WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We of course continue to be all over Miami’s transfer portal chase with several top players on the radar and a big visit weekend upcoming. So check out that coverage. We also break down a new portal entry, DE Tyler Baron and why he might make sense for Miami. There’s also our update on FCS transfer portal 6-4, 300-pound offensive guard Xavier Lozowicki, who landed a Hurricanes offer on Wednesday afternoon. And Gary Ferman answers all your transfer portal questions.

There’s also your primer for the NFL Draft tonight as we have an overview of what to expect from a Canes perspective.

Plus with Miami’s 15 spring practices in the rearview mirror, it’s worth taking a position by position look at where things stand, and today we are breaking down the tight ends position.

In recruiting?

After taking a slew of visits this spring across the country, Savannah (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Elijah Griffin has set his first official visit this summer, and that will be to Miami with the Hurricanes on June 7-9. We catch up with him.

The Miami Hurricanes coaching staff is also on the road evaluating top targets across the country, and on Tuesday morning Canes running back coach Matt Merritt was in New Jersey as he checked in on Trenton (N.J.) Hun School four-star linebacker Kamar Archie. We have that update.

Miami isn’t the only program Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna top-150 cornerback Chris Ewald Jr. plans to take an official visit to this summer, but the Hurricanes are one of the schools starting to separate for the 2025 class’s No. 17 corner. Find out about that.

And we catch up with Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington four-star cornerback Ben Hanks Jr. The top-75 prospect knows the Hurricanes are a major contender.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Remember it is not just NIL money…… Posted by wthacher

These “kids” we recruit are getting a quarter million dollar scholarship, including worry free room and board, free medical, and a chance to earn a meaningful degree which will give them a huge leg up on life when they don’t go to the NFL…most won’t.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Sometimes it’s not even (the staff) trying to recruit me, sometimes it’s the players. You know, I’ve got former teammates that go there, so they’ll be in my head a lot. It just goes to show you the way they’re performing. I talk to (JoJo Trader and Zaquan Patterson) every day, so when we talk about football they always bring it up.”
