Sooners Adding More Louisiana to WR Room

With Javonnie Gibson and KJ Daniels already in Emmett Jones‘s receiver room, he felt there was a need for more pass-catching stars from ‘the Boot’. And on Wednesday evening he got his wish with the commitment of Brayden Allen.
The Lafayette (La.) Christian Academy receiver had long been committed to Tulane but when the Sooners offered him on August 9 he always seemed open to Jones’s overtures.
And on his official visit it seems that Oklahoma did all they could to make a big impression on him.
“My host was Elijah Thomas and that was pretty cool. We hung out for a while after the game and with the team,” Allen said.
“Their message was really just that I belong there in that environment and that I can go there and ball out but also come out a better man.”

Not surprisingly the big SEC atmosphere also caught his attention.
“The game was great and the environment was crazy. Compared to all the college games I’e been to OU was definitely one of the best. Especially since it was a big SEC game that we went to,” he gushed.
Following that trip to Norman he made his way to Boulder, Colo. to watch the Buffaloes take on BYU.
But during his Sooners visit, Oklahoma did use one particularly useful weapon. The chance to spend some time with Oklahoma’s lauded quarterback commitment Bowe Bentley.
“I definitely learned a lot more about OU on my official visit because we got all our questions answered,” he said.
“I got to talk with [Bentley], he’s really cool. We’d been talking [before] though.”
And it does seem that the Sooners star signal caller pledge did plenty to sell the idea of playing together.
“It definitely makes OU more attractive. I would love to play with a quarterback like him,” he said.
