North Texas running back Oscar Adaway has committed to South Carolina football out of the transfer portal.

Adaway told the Sports Talk Media Network of his pledge. Shane Beamer Tweeted his patented #WelcomeHome post earlier in the day, which GamecockCentral had already confirmed was for Adaway but was waiting for the prospect to give word of his commitment.

A native of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Adaway posted his best collegiate season in 2023. He carried the football 123 times for 738 yards – an average of 6 yards per carry – and scored 6 touchdowns. He also tallied 14 catches for 89 yards.

The running back position is a significant need for Shane Beamer’s program this offseason. Mario Anderson entered the transfer portal, Dakereon Joyner exhausted his eligibility in 2023, and just two scholarship backs – Djay Braswell and JuJu McDowell – return as of now.

For the 2024 class, South Carolina has four-star running back Matthew Fuller verbally committed. The staff is also heavily pursuing Arkansas transfer Raheim “Rocket” Sanders.
