South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer predicted a “great” June to Gamecock Central last month and so far that prediction appears to be coming to fruition.

Beamer and the Gamecocks welcomed home three new public verbal commitments to South Carolina’s 2023 recruiting class on Sunday, with a fourth yet to be made public.

Fort Myers (Fla.) Lehigh On3Consensus four-star ATH Kelton Henderson — on the board for the Gamecocks as a wide receiver for assistant Justin Stepp — was the first to be revealed.

The 6-foot, 180-pounder pledged to Carolina over offers from Florida State, Miami, Michigan Ohio State, and numerous others.

Next up was a tight end for assistant coach Jody Wright, in the form of Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School three-star TE Connor Cox.

The Sunshine State tight end committed at the conclusion of his visit, picking Carolina over Boston College, Texas, Louisville, West Virginia, and others.

The day was punctuated by another positive announcement, as Florida defensive back Cam Upshaw gave Torrian Gray another promising pupil. The Perry (Florida) Taylor County product announced his choice on social media at 5 p.m.

The pledges came on the heels of a big visit weekend for the program, with a total of 13 prospects making official visits to Columbia that concluded on Sunday. The new additions join previous commitments Trovon Baugh and Zahbari Sandy in the class.

While three commits were revealed, Beamer Tweeted four #WelcomeHomes, meaning there’s one silent pledge still out there.

On top of the three public commits, three non-committed prospects who visited have now set their announcement dates.

Eatonton (Ga.) Putnam County four-star DB Jalon Kilgore will announce his decision on Wednesday. He has a top five of South Carolina, Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan and Tennessee Tech.

Sandersville (Ga.) Washington County four-star RB Dontavius Braswell won’t wait long to make a decision either — he’s planning to announce on July 2 with a Top 2 of South Carolina and Nebraska and two final official visits to Louisville and Boston College on the docket.

Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood four-star Dylan Lonergan — arguably one of the top remaining uncommitted quarterbacks in the 2023 class — also took his official to South Carolina over the weekend and has set a decision date of July 5. Lonergan spoke to On3 about the visit.
