South Carolina adds Alabama transfer DL

Former Alabama defensive lineman Monkell Goodwine became the second transfer to commit to South Carolina from the transfer portal on Sunday.

Goodwine took an official visit to Columbia over the weekend, and head coach Shane Beamer sent out his patented “#WelcomeHome” message on social media on Sunday evening, signifying the prospect’s pledge.

USC also added a commitment from the portal from former Oklahoma offensive lineman Aaryn Parks on Sunday.

As a prospect in the 2021 class, Goodwine was rated by the On3 Industry Ranking as a four-star prospect. He was additionally tabbed as the second-best prospect in the state of Maryland and the number 69 overall prospect in the country regardless of position.

The Upper Marlboro (Maryland) Rock Creek Christian product saw action in two games this season for the Crimson Tide, rotating in against Middle Tennessee and Mississippi State. He played in one contest in 2022 and in two during his freshman season in Tuscaloosa in 2021.
