Jayden McGowan‘s short-lived time as a South Carolina pledge is over. The Vanderbilt transfer and Laurens, S.C. native committed to Boston College on Friday.

The move is not a surprise as McGowan did not sign with South Carolina like the rest of its commitments did on Wednesday and GamecockCentral projected to its subscribers earlier this week that McGowan would sign with BC, though the door was still cracked for him to possibly keep his commitment.

Now that door is closed and he’s set to sign with Boston College.

McGowan originally committed to South Carolina nearly two weeks ago but he still took an official to Boston College after that verbal pledge.

The 5-foot-8, 181-pounder emerged as one of Vanderbilt’s top receivers and primary kickoff returner during his two seasons in Nashville.

McGowan accumulated 80 catches for 836 yards and three touchdowns during those two seasons to go along with 160 yards on the ground and 845 yards as a kickoff returner.

McGowan played in 24 games, starting 18, during his Vanderbilt career.
