Here is more on the newest addition for readers of GamecockCentral.com:

South Carolina Gamecocks recruiter: Justin Stepp

Other scholarship offers: Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State

Why South Carolina? “It felt like home. I could see myself playing there for four years. It’s a good environment. I got to hang out with the team, meet the players. I hung out with Coach Stepp, Coach Beamer, AB (Ahmarean Brown), and a lot more. I got to see the facility. All the food, it was so much food. Coach Stepp is a wise man, I think he knows some things he can teach me.”

Scouting report from On3: Multi-phase athlete who creates big plays with the ball in his hands. Checked in around 5-foot-11.5, 175 pounds and tested well, running a 4.54 second electronically-timed 40-yard dash along with a 4.39 second shuttle prior to his senior season. The speed also checks out on the track, where he ran an 11.03 second 100 meter as a junior. Has the athleticism to separate downfield and is dangerous after the catch. Shows big-play ability with the ball in his hands as a junior – particularly on speed sweeps and as a returner. Can continue cleaning up some of the technical aspects of his game including route-running and technique with his hands. Should continue to improve with more focus and coaching at receiver. Adds value as a return man and ball carrier on speed sweeps.

About GamecockCentral.com

Gamecock Central has five full-time employees and several part-time specialists and has been a fully-credentialed media outlet for 20 years.

But that hasn’t always been the case.

Here’s a message from Gamecock Central founder Brian Shoemaker:

Crazy Start

Gamecock Central was started as a hobby.

It immediately turned into an all-encompassing passion.

In late 1999, it became my full-time job.

Today, I remain the owner.

Pretty good for a guy who failed his first computer class at USC.

My family and I are extremely fortunate. My wife prefers to say we’re blessed.

Passion

The reason we exist separates us from other media outlets.

I had no thoughts of the site becoming a business.

The first attempt at generating revenue didn’t occur until 10 months after launch when ads were added.

Gamecock Central’s foundation — our roots, our basic DNA — will always be different than other sites.

Certainly, we have a bottom line, but there’s a bigger picture.

Professional Coverage

Of course, passion alone isn’t enough to satisfy our subscribers.

We have a tremendous team of insiders, analysts, and photographers.

They provide the most in-depth, accurate, and professional coverage of Gamecock sports and recruiting.

And we have The Insiders Forum. It’s where the most hardcore fans hang out and discuss the Gamecocks.

Some are positive, some are “realistic” and some probably yell too much, but they all love Carolina.
