5-star EDGE Dylan Stewart signs with South Carolina | National Signing Day 2024

South Carolina grabbed one of the nation’s top prospects at a key position by inking Dylan Stewart earlier this month.

The Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate EDGE is ranked as a Five Star Plus player, meaning he has the distinction of being ranked as a five-star prospect by all four major recruiting services.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder is one of several South Carolina signees participating in this cycle’s Under Armour All-America Game, and he is already turning heads turning practice sessions.

“(Stewart) was an instant eye-catcher on Day 1 at Under Armour and put together a strong first practice. His stature and readymade physique stood out among the Team Fire defensive line,” said Charles Power, who is the head of scouting and rankings for On3.

The Gamecocks beat out the likes of Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, and numerous others to land a commitment from Stewart.

Power had more to say about the future South Carolina pass-rusher’s showing during this weekend’s practice showing:

“Stewart impressed in position drills, showing coordination and loose movements, particularly notable for a prospect of his size. When Team Fire went to a brief 11-on-11 period to wrap up the quick practice, Stewart wasted no to time making a play. The Five-Star Plus+ defender beat the offensive tackle and darted into the backfield to make a play behind the line of scrimmage. Stewart looked like one of the most physically-gifted prospects in Orlando and those gifts manifested in the limited practice on Saturday,” he said.

For the 2024 class, Stewart is rated by the On3 Industry Ranking – a weighed average of all four major recruiting services – as the 14th-best prospect in the country.

Power and On3 are the highest in the industry on Stewart’s upside, ranking him individually at number 12 in the country regardless of position for the ’24 class.
