Standing at 6-5, 244 pounds, Rhames is rated as the fourth top overall player in the state for the class of 2023 and the top edge for his position in South Carolina.

A talented pass rusher who has both size and speed, he’s a defender who lives in the opponent’s backfield.

In the past two seasons, Rhames has racked up 120 tackles, including over 30 tackles for loss and ten sacks. Last seasons alone he had over 20 TFLs and 7 sacks. The kicker? He’s doing so at the highest level of competition in South Carolina in 5A.

Rhames chooses the Gamecocks over a long list of schools including Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, NC State, Virginia tech and Alabama.

Not including, quarterback Dante Reno, who at the moment remains as a commit for the class of 2024, the Gamecocks have now landed seven four-star commitments for the class of 2023.

Heading into Saturday, South Carolina’s class ranked No. 27 in the country in the On3 Team Recruiting Rankings. Those rankings are driven by the On3Consensus.

In addition to Rhames, the Gamecocks are waiting patiently on the announcements of two other targets this weekend. Four-star OL Markee Anderson  is set to make his commitment at 3 p.m. on Sunday while four-star WR Carmelo Taylor plans to announce his college plans on Sunday as well, at 4 p.m.
