And his first play back couldn’t have gone any better. He caught a hitch route, spun to the outside, broke a tackle and took it to the house. All told, it was a 70-yard catch and run touchdown in his first play of the scrimmage Thursday.

Dubose Jr. committed to Texas June 18 after making an official visit the weekend of June 16-18. He picked the Longhorns over Tennessee, UTSA and a host of others.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder played his sophomore season at Schertz (Texas) Clemens High. He caught 24 passes for 423 and two touchdowns.

Dubose made a speedy return from the knee surgery at the beginning of the 2022 football season to compete on the track in the spring of 2023. He qualified for the Texas state track and field meet in the triple jump.
