Trojans in the NFL: Week Six
Week six of the 2022 NFL season is now in the books. Let’s take a look around the league at how several Trojans performed, headlined by Juju Smith-Schuster’s best game of the season to date.
Juju Grabs First Touchdown as a Chief
After five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, former USC wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster signed with the Kansas City Chiefs this past offseason. On Sunday, Smith-Schuster caught his first touchdown as a member of his new team.
Smith-Schuster also posted a season-high in receiving yards, racking up 113 on the day. However, it was not enough for the Chiefs to pull out a win, as Kansas City fell to the Buffalo Bills 24-20.
Pittman’s Big Week Six
Earlier this season, fellow former Trojan wideout Michael Pittman Jr. struggled with a quad injury. Although he only missed one game, Pittman’s numbers had been limited since his return from the injury.

That changed this week, however. In a matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Indianapolis Colts’ top wideout posted career highs in both receptions (13) and receiving yards (134). While he did not find the end zone, Pittman played a major role in Indianapolis’s 34-27 victory.

Hufanga Enters Concussion Protocol
Unfortunately, the news was not all good for former Trojans this weekend. Earlier this week, Nick Wagoner of ESPN reported that former USC and current San Francisco 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga entered the NFL’s concussion protocol. As of this afternoon, Hufanga is still in the concussion protocol, and will not practice today.
Right now, Hufanga’s status for Sunday’s matchup with Smith-Schuster and the Chiefs is still uncertain.
