Serious question... Is there another coach in America you would rather have right now? It's a no for me.

I don't know if I'd trade for him but I do like Brad Underwood a lot. And guessing they're in the NC game this year.

I would consider the Arizona coach - Tommy Lloyd. Cut his teeth at Gonzaga and is one hell of a talent evaluator.

No, but I'm so uninformed when it comes to college hoops my opinion is irrelevant.

I've never doubted his coaching acumen as far as offensive creativity goes. I didn't think it would work from a roster management, talent acquisition, and defensive philosophy standpoint(s)

However, I think there is a significant regional advantage held by Arizona, which no longer exists for Carolina and Kentucky. Arizona is doing just fine with foriegn players and transfers like any elite program. But they are absolutely OWNING local recruiting in Arizona, California, and Vegas. The HS basketball talent in the Mountain States, West Coast, and Desert is outstanding. Its the primary reason the Mountain West has really been the only mid major league to still remain competitive in March. But the best of the best still arent signing with UNLV or San Diego State. They still want to play at the high major level. Zona is punking UCLA in recruiting. Arizona State is a nobody. USC is getting some talent with Mussellman, but basketball is treated like an Olympic sport there by the admin and students. Arizona is probably just a 17 or 18 win team right now without True Freshmen Koa Peat and Brayden Burries. You would think the same for UNC and Kentucky. But weve seen those programs get ot really wrong in the past. Lloyd seems to he hitting the same ceiling Sean Miller did before him.

Chicago is one of the recruiting talent hotbeds for basketball. Hoiberg has done a great job the last few years improving a team that is limited by NIL budget and of course its mediocre history. I think Sam McKewon described it once as the greatest version of a Mountain West team. Smart and experienced players running smart sets unselfishly. I’m really excited to see what the next few years will bring.Interesting. Illinois fans have been trying to run him out of town most years.

Probably wouldn't trade him in reality as even if Fred continues the run the last three years and even steps it up(makes multiple deep runs), he's not going anywhere.
A guy like Hurley would never come here or stay.
Not sure we'd get as much loyalty as we have with Fred.

The great thing about Fred’s teams the last few years is they play the brand of basketball Nebraskans love, unselfish on offense, and gritty defense. I would take that any day over a team of 5 star “me” guys that can play above the rim. I’ve never been more proud of a player in any sport than I am of Sam Hoiberg.
