OT Charles Barkley

My gf apparently thinks Barkley is famous from being on a Ro commercial or one of the other GLP-1 drugs. He’s not even “one of the capital one commercial guys”, he’s just that “Ro commercial guy” to her. This killed me when I realized what she was saying. Thought y’all might enjoy it as well. Has anyone else had their partner say something similar about a sports celebrity?

Yea women shouldn’t be allowed to speak because they are all dumb. I agree. They are good for cooking cleaning and fucking but other than that they kind of suck.

Double down and tell her he’s just famous for his terrible golf swing. Image

Thread title made me nervous he had died or something. His rants on San Antonio never fail to make me laugh, mostly because they’re true lol

Dude is absolutely dead on balls accurate when he calls the river walk a “dirty little creek.” I don’t really get why people like SA so much. Not only is the riverwalk Incredibly underwhelming, but the Alamo is just smack in the middle of tourist trap hell. Hard to fully appreciate the history when there’s a Ripley’s Believe it or Not and a Chipotle right next door. Austin>>>SA

Back when I lived in AZ, I’ve ran into Barkley a couple of times and had a drink(I mean tequila shot) with him. He’s an awesome guy.

I love Barkley. Dude is authentic and unapologetic. If you do not like what he is going to say... Easy solution. Do not listen

I agree with you. I’ll give SA credit for what I believe was the first architecture-designed “Riverwalk” in the country. Beyond that, I can’t think of a term that caused me more headaches and schedule delays as an environmental remediation geologist/project manager early in my career. Going around the Southeast investigating and cleaning up former manufactured gas plants (nearly always built near rivers for easy access & waste disposal) and having to make accommodations for every podunk, bougie small city that had a “riverwalk” in the works because in the 90’s it was THE thing that small cities had to have. 🤣

No wonder he looked awful lately with the GLP1 drugs. He commented at halftime in the Duke - Siena and his take didn't make sense. He said Boozer needed to score more - but he had been the major contributor in the first half. I can't call him out too much with Kenny Smith beside him. I like having former coaches critique games more so than players. Seth Greenberg normally has good breakdowns.

Which company were you with? I also started with MGP cleanup in 00’s. With RETEC. They are no longer around after being absorbed by a company that got absorbed by AECOM

At the time (‘89-‘93) I was with IT Corporation in their now defunct Columbia offices. Because SCE&G was one of my biggest advocates as a client, I was chosen to be the “Georgia Power Guy” and began working on their site in Columbus, right down by the old armory & Columbus Hilton. Funny, if you ever catch the old 1955 movie, The Phenix City Story, the opening credits of the movie are one of a number of MGP’s that were accidentally caught on film. Los Angeles’ downtown MGP can be seen in some of the background of the horror classic “Them”. If you know what to look for, they’re easy to see. Heck, I’ve even poked around the old location of the one in Virginia City, NV. 💯 we know some of the same people at RETEC. Christie Battenhouse immediately comes to mind. I’d bet that we’ve met, as well 👍 Happily left consulting when Southern Company corporate hired me. Never looked back. Always laughed to myself when people would say “Don’t you want to be in consulting; you can make so much more”. 🤦🤦 Environmental Consulting is a grind; a good place to learn from and get out of. By the time I retired two years ago, none of my peers were making even close to me…and that was just base salary-wise. Total comp was much higher.
