College Football Playoff: CBS Sports projects 12-team field, full bowl slate after Week 2
On3

Week 11 of the 2025 college football season has come and gone, and the College Football Playoff picture continues to take shape. Many of the top teams continue to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Others are making their final push for the playoffs.

Some notable outcomes this week include No. 2 Indiana escaping Penn State on the road with a 27-24 win. Elsewhere in the Big Ten, No. 9 Oregon snuck past No. 20 Iowa and Wisconsin upset No. 23 Washington. In the SEC, No. 3 Texas A&M dominated No. 22 Missouri. The ACC saw both ranked Louisville and Virginia teams lose to unranked opponents. And finally in the Big 12, Texas Tech defeated BYU in a top 10 matchup.

In turn, CBS Sports has shaken up their predictions for the College Football Playoff. Here are the updated projections, along with a projection list of every bowl game:

College Football Playoff First Round Game #1

No. 12 North Texas at No. 5 Georgia

Georgia becomes the last team out of the top-four in CBS Sports’ latest projection. The Bulldogs are currently 8-1 and have won its last five games this season. This sets up a Week 12 matchup against Texas that will have major College Football Playoff implications.

North Texas becomes the favorite to win the group of six bid into the CFP. They’re currently 8-1 and beat a previously undefeated Navy team 31-17 last week.

Ole Miss is coming off a 49-0 win over The Citadel during Week 11, helping the Rebels to a 9-1 record having won its last three games. The Rebels have Florida and Mississippi State left on its regular season schedule.

Georgia Tech was among college football’s last undefeated teams before losing to NC State last week. Still, they’re in first place in the current ACC standings after Week 11 after Virginia lost to unranked Wake Forest on Saturday.

College Football Playoff First Round Game #3

No. 10 Texas at No. 7 Texas Tech

A matchup between two teams from the state of Texas in the College Football Playoff, these two former Big 12 rivals have matched up many time in the past. The Longhorns, however, have largely dominated the series with a 55–18 all-time series lead.

The last meeting came in 2023 with a 57-7 win for the Longhorns. The Red Raiders don’t expect such a lopsided outcome if they meet next month in the CFP.

College Football Playoff First Round Game #4

No. 9 Notre Dame at No. 8 Oregon

This game would be between two of the marquee programs in college football today. Notre Dame vs. Oregon in the College Football Playoff sells itself.

A CFP-bound Irish team would have to have on a 10-game winning streak, while Oregon currently has one loss. There’s little room for error for either team at this point in the season

CFP Quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl

No. 1 Ohio State vs. TBA

Ohio State defeated Purdue 34-10 on Saturday to improve to 9-0 this season. They continue their nearly year-old undefeated streak.

That being said, the Buckeyes have three games left in their regular season — the finale being The Game against Michigan on the road. That’s a hurdle Ohio State hasn’t been able to get past in the last four matchups.

CFP Quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl

No. 2 Texas A&M vs. TBA

The Aggies improved to 9-0 after beating a ranked Missouri team 38-17 during Week 11. The Aggies now have consecutive wins over ranked teams, and three overall.

Texas A&M still has several opportunities to prove why they should be ranked No. 1 in the CFP this season. That includes a matchup at Texas to end the regular season and, if they remain undefeated, a SEC Championship game against likely another playoff team.

CFP Quarterfinal at the Orange Bowl

No. 3 Indiana vs. TBA

Indiana came back to defeated Penn State in one of the most miraculous comebacks this season in college football. Fernando Mendoza completed a touchdown strike to Omar Cooper Jr., who tip-toed on the back of the end zone to secure the win.

Indiana is now 10-0 with two games left on their schedule against both Wisconsin and Indiana. Both of those teams have one combined Big Ten win this season.

No. 4 Alabama vs. TBA

Alabama has won nine-straight games following Week 11’s 20-9 win over LSU on Saturday. They’re tied with Texas A&M at 6-0 against the SEC this season, but have one loss on their record that breaks the tiebreaker with the Aggies.

The Crimson Tide will host a ranked Oklahoma team this weekend in Tuscaloosa. A win there would only help solidify Alabama’s status as a top-four College Football Playoff seed.
