Volleyball makes first Final Four with upset of Nebraska
Nebraska was the top seed in the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, with a 33-0 record. They had only lost seven sets all season and just one since Sept. 16. They cruised through the Big Ten with little trouble in 2025 and hadn’t lost at home since 2022.
Another trip to the Final Four, being held this year in Kansas City, simply required them to beat visiting third-seeded Texas A&M on their home court Sunday.
That trip won’t be happening, as the Aggies (27-4) stunned the Cornhuskers (33-1) 3 sets to 2 (25-22, 25-22, 18-25, 35-37, 15-13) to win the regional final and punched their first ticket to the Final Four in program history.
Coach Jamie Morrison, who said his team “wasn’t afraid” of Nebraska during his Saturday press conference, saw his team pick up where they left off Friday night when they executed a reverse sweep on second-seeded Louisville to win 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-12). The Aggies, who have only lost once in their last 16 matches, taking the first two sets from a team that hadn’t lost one since Nov. 14 — a span of eight matches.
After an epic fourth set, the Aggies jumped out to an early lead in the fifth and held off a Nebraska comeback to take the final set with Logan Lednicky’s kill to finish the biggest upset in college volleyball this season.
Lednicky was named the Regional Most Outstanding Player, while Maddie Waak, Kyndal Stowers (a team-high 25 kills Sunday) and Ava Underwood joined her on the All-Regional Team.
The Aggies, who were a third seed in the tournament, will play another number one seed, Pitt (30-4), Thursday night at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

The Aggies shot better than 59% from the field and 48% from 3-point range while forcing 19 turnovers.
