Here’s what you may have messed from Texas A&M athletics and Aggies in the pros from this weekend in your Weekend Wrap, sponsored by Crystal Creek Partners:

McMillan fills A&M roster with former Southern Illinois guard

In an impressive rebuild, Texas A&M basketball coach Bucky McMillan has the Aggies with a full 15-man roster after Friday evening’s addition of former Southern Illinois guard Ali Dibba. The 6-foot-5 Dibba, who required a waiver for an additional collegiate season, was cleared to play Friday and promptly signed with the Aggies.

During his lone season at SIU, Dibba averaged 17.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2 assists per game. He joins a roster loaded with guards and wing players, including Pop Isaacs, Jacari Lane, Rylan Griffen, Ruben Dominguez, Jeremiah Green, Marcus Hill, Josh Holloway and Noah Selby.

Scourton suffers collapsed lung in practice vs. Texans

Carolina Panthers DE Nic Scourton, who had flown back to Texas to take part in practices against the Houston Texans and play in Saturday’s preseason game, ended up in a Houston hospital after suffering a collapsed lung during a joint practice. The former Texas A&M defensive lineman was taken in the second round by the Panthers in the 2025 NFL Draft and impressed right off the bat in his first preseason game; now, the one-time Aggie may not play again until the regular season.

Aggies in the NFL

DT Jayden Peevy, who signed with New Orleans earlier this week, had 4 tackles as the Saints tied Jacksonville 17-17. Fellow 2020 Aggie teammate Antonio Johnson had 2 tackles, including a tackle for loss, for the Jaguars.

Even without Scourton, there were three Aggies who got playing time as the Panthers and Texans played Saturday. Carolina safety Demani Richardson led all players with 7 tackles, with defensive tackle Bobby Brown batted down a pass in a short appearance. Houston receiver Christian Kirk also played sparingly but had 2 catches for 13 yards early in the game.

Likely starters Edgerrin Cooper and Jaylon Jones sat out when Green Bay beat Indianapolis 23-19, but two former Aggies did play for the Colts. Corner BJ Mayes had a tackle while linebacker Solomon DeShields had three for Indianapolis.

There were three Aggies who saw playing time when Philadelphia lost to Cleveland 22-13, a sure sign it’s still the preseason. Wide receiver Ainias Smith had 2 catches for 19 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles, and also returned a punt 10 yards. Punter Braden Mann punted 7 times for an average of 52.3 yards per punt — including a 67-yard bomb. For the Browns, newly-acquired running back Trayveon Williams had one carry for no yards, caught one pass for six yards and returned a kickoff 38 yards.

Pittsburgh DT DeMarvin Leal had a pair of tackles in a 17-14 loss to Tampa Bay.

The list of Aggies who didn’t play Saturday rivals the number who did, and includes:

WR Mike Evans (Tampa)

WR Josh Reynolds and DE Micheal Clemons (Jets)

RB De’von Achane and LB Tyrell Dodson (Dolphins)

DE Myles Garrett (Browns)

S Donovan Wilson and LB Buddy Johnson (Cowboys)

DT Nnamdi Madubuike (Ravens)

Cincinnati plays Washington Monday night. McKinnley Jackson and Shemar Stewart could both play for the Bengals, but you can bet Von Miller will not suit up for the Reds…Commanders.

NFL being unkind to former Aggie offensive linemen

While Dan Moore (Titans) and Jake Matthews (Falcons) have starting jobs set and big money contracts to go with them, the NFL isn’t being overly kind to other Texas A&M offensive linemen.

Two of them, Dan McCollum (Steelers) and Kenyon Green (Eagles) have been hurt during training camp. McCollum hasn’t played at all this summer with an undisclosed injury, and Green came back last week and promptly hurt his shoulder again. He’s done for camp and maybe longer, and both players now find themselves potential cuts as the Steelers and Eagles work to get their rosters down to the 53-man limit on Aug. 27.

Jermaine Eluemunor remains the starting right tackle for the Giants, but the New York media is already talking about rookie Marcus Mbow as if it’s just a matter of time before he takes Eluemunor’s job. New England guard Layden Robinson, who started a few games last season, looks like he could be cut by the Patriots a year after he was a fourth round pick.

And Erik McCoy continues to plug along on the front line for New Orleans.
