Dunkin' Dogs set to begin TBT Play on Friday

The Dunkin’ Dogs, an alumni squad from Louisiana Tech University, will be looking to turn some heads in The Basketball Tournament over the next few weeks (July 18-August 3). The Dunkin’ Dogs roster is made up of a number of former Tech alums that Bulldog fans loved watching play in their day.
Former Dunkin’ Dogs on the Squad
The core of the team comes from Ruston:
- Dravon Mangum (Guard/Forward) – 2022-2024 – Known for his defensive tenacity at Louisiana Tech, Mangum brings a 3 & D aspect to the Dunkin’ Dogs roster.
- Raheem Appleby (Guard) – 2011 – 2015 – A dynamic player in Ruston ten years ago, Appleby scored 1,770 points in his Tech career and will bring a veteran presence to the roster.
- Tahlik Chavez (Guard) – 2023 – 2024 – Chavez only spent one season in Ruston but was a terrific shooter (40% from 3) and dynamic on-ball defender on the perimeter.
Supporting Cast
Complementing the LA Tech core:
- Tyree Appleby (Guard) – Cleveland State, Florida, & Wake Forest – Tyree, Raheem Appleby’s brother, brings a dynamic scoring aspect to the Dunkin’ Dogs roster. The 6’1 guard scored 2,174 points in his college career.
- Keith Clanton (Forward) – UCF – Clanton gives the Dunkin’ Dogs some size inside at 6’9, 250. The Orlando native averaged 13.3 points and 7.8 rebounds during his four-year career at UCF from 2009 – 2013.
- Darius Washington (Guard) – Memphis – The 39-year old Washington avearged 14.4 points and 3.5 assists per game at Memphis from 2004 – 2006.
- Ishmael Lane (Forward) – Northwestern State – Lane, a Port Allen, LA native, adds additional size to the roster as well at 6’8, 250. Lane averaged 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game during his four-year career for the Demons from 2015 – 2019.
- Collin Holloway – (Guard/Forward) – Georgetown, Tulane, Samford – Holloway is another Louisiana native from Baton Rouge. At 6’6, 220, Holloway scored 1,125 during his college career from 2020 – 2025.
- Victor Ohia-Obioha – (Forward) – Pepperdine – Ohia-Obioha is 6’9, 205 and played at Pepperdine from 2018 – 2022.

Head Coach & General Manager
- Derrick Jones (Head Coach)
Jones served on LA Tech’s coaching staff from 2010–14 and helped guide the Bulldogs to a tremendous amount of success. Jones is currently the Head Coach at Catholic High School in Baton Rough. - Matthew Thorne (General Manager)
Thorne, an Associate AD at La Tech, led the charge in assembling the Dunkin’ Dogs roster. Thorne is a 2015 graduate of Louisiana Tech.
Tournament Outlook
The Dogs hit the court Friday, July 18, facing Tampa Florida Pickup Basketball. The Dunkin’ Dogs will be the 3-seed in the Lexington Regional.
