One of the crown jewels of Georgia’s 2024 cycle is officially a member of the roster, with the Bulldogs announcing the signing of five-star cornerback Ellis Robinson on Wednesday.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 3 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, a Five-Star Plus+ prospect, and the No. 1 cornerback by all four major recruiting services, Robinson initially committed to the Bulldogs on February 1 of this year, National Signing Day for the Class of 2023.

Originally from New Haven, Connecticut, the 6-foot, 175 pound defender played the major of his high school ball with national powerhouse program IMG Academy.

USC, Florida State, and especially Miami were all considered threats to the Bulldogs are various times in Robinson’s recruitment, but ultimately, he followed through with his decision. There was some handwringing about his potential status following the Bulldogs’ loss of Fran Brown, who became the head coach of Syracuse. Brown had long been Robinson’s primary recruiter, with a relationship that extended back to Brown’s tenure with Rutgers.

Robinson put any rumors to rest soon after the news was released.

“They have a great program,” he told On3 of the Bulldogs. “Coach Fran will always be my guy, but Georgia is where I want to be.”

Ellis Robinson is already on campus with the Bulldogs and taking part in bowl practice.

Scouting Report on Ellis Robinson

“Ball-hawking cornerback with plus length, ball skills and refined movement skills. Has shown the ability to make high-level plays on the ball throughout his high school career. Measured close to 6-feet, 175 pounds prior to his senior season. Has plus length for the position with arms that measure a shade under 33 inches. Dominated competition in New York’s Catholic league as a sophomore, bringing in eight interceptions. Made several impressive, acrobatic picks. Moved to IMG Academy as a junior, where he looked like the top defensive back on the Ascenders’ loaded roster. Made strides as a junior relative to his technical skills. Pairs his length and ball skills with refined footwork. Understands routes and generally stays in phase. Embraces matchups against top receivers and is willing to get physical at the line of scrimmage. Also tests as a good athlete in the combine setting. While his speed is good, he does not register as elite for the position. Can continue getting stronger and adding good mass once in a college strength program.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings, on Ellis Robinson
