The Bulldogs are, once again, back on the board when it comes to the Class of 2023, reeling in priority defensive back target Chris Peal today.

An On3 Consensus four-star prospect, Peal ranks as the nation’s No. 172 overall player in the Consensus. Additionally, he’s the No. 21 cornerback nationally and No. 3 player in North Carolina in the Consensus.

The On3 Consensus is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services. Created by the authors of the Composite, the On3 Consensus is the most advanced, complete and unbiased rating and ranking measurement in the industry.

In On3’s own rankings, however, the Charlotte, North Carolina Providence Day School product is ranked the highest of any of the four services.

On3 considers Peal the nation’s No. 75 overall player, No. 8 cornerback, and No. 4 prospect in North Carolina.

A 6-foot-1, 190-pound defender, Peal was focused on development throughout his recruitment, noting that the Bulldogs were among the elite echelon in that regard.

“Georgia is a great school that wins and develops players. They play big-time SEC football, they have great facilities, and what they did in the NFL Draft this year stands out too,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons in May.

Georgia has long been considered a heavy favorite for Peal, with the Dawgs given a 96.4-percent chance of landing his commitment in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine prior to today’s decision.

A major component of that?

His relationship with the coaching staff in Athens.

“Me and Coach [Fran] Brown talk almost every night, so we have a great relationship. I like Coach [Will] Muschamp a lot, too,” Peal told Simmons in May.

Peal becomes Georgia’s 22nd commitment of the 2023 cycle and a member of its No. 2 ranked recruiting class.

He joins fellow defensive backs AJ Harris, Joenel Aguero, Daniel Harris, and Justyn Rhett.

Scouting Report on Chris Peal

“Athletic cornerback with smooth coverage skills. Measured at 6-feet tall, 175 pounds as a junior. One of the faster top cornerback prospects, running 10.78 seconds in the 100 meters as a junior. Also tested very well in the combine setting prior to his junior season. Technically clean in coverage. Stays in phase with receivers and shows the ability to locate and make plays on the ball. A smooth mover both in games and the camp setting. Also flashes his athleticism and playmaking ability as a running back. Finished with 56 tackles and 2 interceptions along with 865 yards and 11 touchdowns from scrimmage. Lacks ideal length with a neutral wing-span and can continue getting strong to aid in his tackling.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
