Georgia added the commitment of four-star cornerback Justyn Rhett out of Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) on Monday. The 6-foot-1, 195 pounder was originally committed to Notre Dame but decommited from the Fighting Irish during his official visit to Georgia on April 16th. Less than 10 days later, Rhett is announcing his intentions to be a Bulldog.

“My decision to commit to Georgia was to play in the best conference in college football today,” Rhett told On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett. “I couldn’t ask for a better relationship than the one I have with coach Francis Brown (DB coach) along with Coach Smart and Coach Muschamp. Georgia stayed in contact with me over time ever since I left from my first visit. And that was huge for me.”

Rhett attended Georgia’s spring game during his official visit and was able to take in Sanford Stadium for all its glory. There’s no doubt that being there on a special day, one in which the stars from the 2021 National Championship team returned and received their rings, played a part in his decision too.

“The atmosphere is something I’d love to be able to witness from the actual playing field and there was so much energy from the fans,” Rhett said. “It was definitely beyond my expectations.”

“Right away, I built a relationship with coach Brown. He has made me feel like a top guy for him. We have talked a lot and he is about teaching and guiding. He has really hit all the key points with me,” Rhett added, speaking with On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons. “Then, on my official visit, I had some great words with coach Kirby Smart, I saw the spring game, and I learned a lot more about Georgia. The atmosphere was great, I met some players, and Georgia is just a great school.”

Rhett is Georgia’s ninth commitment in the Class of 2023. Fellow cornerback Marcus Washington is currently Kirby Smart’s highest rated commit in the class, coming in at a 93.50 rating and the No. 66 overall ranking according to the On3 Sports Consensus. Tight end Pearce Spurlin, offensive tackle Bo Hughley and wide receiver Raymond Cottrell are also top-100 recruits at No. 78, No. 90 and No. 97 respectively. Rhett ranks as the No. 139 player overall, the No. 14 player at his position and the No. 2 player in the state of Nevada.
