Georgia is down a commitment for the Class of 2024, and it’s at a position the Dawgs could ill afford to lose a pledge at. Wide receiver Ny Carr of Moultrie, Georgia’s Colquitt County High School shared his decision to reopen his recruitment with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Sunday evening saying:

“I would like to thank the entire staff and community at the University of Georgia. With that being said, I have decided to reopen my recruitment as I feel this is best for my future. Please respect my decision.”

Carr was Georgia’s longest-tenured commitment of the Class of 2024, having originally committed to the Bulldogs on July 5, 2022.

The nation’s No. 62 overall prospect for 2024, Carr had recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Bulldogs in speaking with DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson.

“I don’t know (what it would take to flip me)…Everything is everything (with Georgia),” Carr said in early September. “We’re taking dubs. We’re airing it out…It’s a brotherhood. We win together, we compete together, we sleep together and we win together. There’s nothing better.”

He followed that up with a quick visit to Athens for Georgia’s win over the South Carolina Gamecocks, a contest he reviewed enthusiastically.

“The atmosphere can’t get any better than in that stadium,” Carr told Johnson following the game. “It was live and it was a great environment…What stood out the most was how they locked in and pulled away in the second half. That’s what caught my attention. They started to move faster on offense.”

The Bulldogs are now down to just two receiver pledges in the class of 2024, still holding the commitment of four-star wideout NiTareon ‘Nitro’ Tuggle and three-star wideout Sacovie White. Tuggle ranks as the nation’s No. 106 overall prospect in the cycle, while White ranks No. 647 in the class.

Florida State should now be considered a major contender for Carr’s services, as the Seminoles hold the commitment of his Colquitt County teammate Landen Thomas, who also decommitted from Georgia in April of this year.

On3 Scouting Report on Ny Carr

“Fluid route-runner who wins with ball tracking and creating yards after the catch. Shows excellent body control and balance in his route running and at the catch point. Solid production as a sophomore with 40 catches for 856 yards and 13 touchdowns for one of the top high school programs in Georgia. Three-sport athlete that jumped a 5’10” high jump in 2021 who also plays basketball. All-around skill set for the position who will continue to improve as he physically develops into his frame.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings, on Ny Carr
