Make it three commits in less than a week for the Georgia Bulldogs, as kicker Peyton Woodring of Lafayette, Louisiana’s Ascension Episcopal has announced his commitment to the Bulldogs.

A 5-foot-10, 165-pound specialist, Woodring becomes Georgia’s eleventh commitment of the Class of 2023.

Alabama had recently offered Woodring, joining a fold that also included Louisiana-Lafayette and Air Force.

Georgia passed on a kicker in the last cycle, opting instead to spend the specialist scholarship on punter Brett Thorson of Melbourne, Australia.

The last kicker the Bulldogs signed was Jared Zirkel in the Class of 2020. Meanwhile, current starter Jack Podlesny is entering his third season on the job with two years of eligibility remaining. Georgia also lost Jake Camarda who handled kickoff duties each of the last two years to the NFL Draft this spring.

Evaluating Peyton Woodring

Woodring didn’t hold back on speaking on his own game with BamaOn3’s Joseph Hastings earlier this year.

“I feel like I have one of the strongest kickoff legs in the country. It’s one of my big things,” Woodring said. “This season, I probably had one of the best films in America for a kicker. I went 14-of-19 on field goals and had a long of 56 [yards] in a game. It was good by a long bit, too. I feel like my in-game film really separates me from other kickers and how well I do under the pressure.”

Per Kohl’s Kicking, he is ranked as the nation’s No. 4 overall kicker for the Class of 2023, with the kicking camp providing a breakdown of his top attributes.

“Woodring’s most recent camp was in January of 2022. He scored an impressive 114 points on kickoffs. In December he scored 14 of 15 points on field goals and had a kickoff score of 110. Woodring also competed very well at the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp in July of 2021. He scored 29 points out of 36 over the 2 days of field goal charting which was one of the top scores at camp. He generates a lot of energy into his kickoffs and it showed where he finished second in his class for average distance and hang-time for a combined total of 109.75 points. Woodring is one of the best prospects in the 2023 class and we expect big things over the upcoming year,” the evaluation from Kohl’s said.
