Georgia landed the talents of four-star defensive lineman Justin Greene Tuesday morning, and it’s a big win for the Bulldogs. A 6-foot-4.5, 257 pound prospect out of Mountain View High School (Lawerenceville, Ga.), Greene was on campus in Athens for an official visit. Shortly after, he announced his commitment.

“I would like to express my gratitude to everyone involved in the recruiting process for believing in my abilities and providing me with incredible opportunities to build relationships with coaches and staffs from some of the finest football programs,” Greene wrote in a message posted to social media. “The time and effort invested in evaluating my skills, academics and character have not gone unnoticed.”

“I am honored to have received several offers from top notch programs. Throughout my high school career, I have dedicated countless hours to improving my skills on and off the field,” he continued. “I am clear on my goals as a student-athlete, and I am ready to embrace the challenges that lie ahead. I am confident that the legendary coaching staff at the University of Georgia will provide the necessary guidance and support to reach my full potential. I am fully committed to the grind. Go Dawgs!”

Ranked the No. 108 player – and No. 14 defensive lineman – according to the On3 Industry Ranking, Greene is Georgia’s 17th commit in a class that ranks No. 1 in the country. He joins the likes of cornerback Ellis Robinson IV, linebacker Demarcus Riddick, safety Jaylen Heyward, safety Peyton Woodyard and cornerback Demello Jones – all top 100 players according to the Industry Ranking – on the defensive side of the ball.

Meanwhile, on offense, Georgia has the nation’s No. 1 overall player in five-star plus+ quarterback commit Dylan Raiola. Alongside Ryan Puglisi – a second quarterback commit in the class – he headlines a group that includes tight end Jaden Reddell, wide receiver Ny Carr, running back Dwight Phillips, wide receiver NiTareon Tuggle, offensive tackle Marcus Harrison, wide receiver Sacovie White, tight end Colton Heinrich and offensive tackle Malachi Toliver.

Greene believes he can step foot on campus and make an immediate impact for the Bulldogs given a lack of defensive ends. Freshman All-American Mykel Williams should still be on campus when Greene arrives in 2024, but Tramel Walthour will be gone, and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins has yet to take the steps forward many hopes to see from him going into his redshirt sophomore season.

“It’s definitely how they are going to develop me,” Greene told On3’s Jeremy Johnson. “All those draft picks they’ve put out lately have made it clear what they can do defensive linemen. I definitely think they can help me with my journey and just with where I want to go and what I want to do with my life after college.”

Greene told Johnson he loved his official visit this past weekend. Being close to home was important to him, and putting on the Georgia jersey was something special.

“That’s pretty important to me; I don’t want my family traveling the entire weekend to come watch me play,” Greene said. “It’s good to be close to home … That felt good. It was a good feeling. They were already high on my list going in, but they’re solidified now.”
