Kentucky LB target Arvell Reese commits to Ohio State
Perhaps the biggest camp participant in June at Kentucky was Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville linebacker Arvell Reese. The Wildcats hosted the four-star prospect for a key unofficial visit, and was emerging as a contender in this recruitment.
After Ohio State lost a few key linebacker targets over the next few weeks, it started to become clear that Reese would ultimately be a take for the Big Ten blue blood. It’s very difficult to beat out the Buckeyes in their own backyard.
On Saturday evening, Reese ended his recruitment with a commitment to Ohio State.
Arvell Reese is the No. 325 ranked prospect in the class of 2023 according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. A top-10 prospect in Ohio, the Buckeyes now have 70 percent of that top-10 committed to their program in the 2023 cycle.

Reese made three unofficial visits to Lexington since March as Vince Marrow was giving Kentucky a great shot at landing a commitment. However, Ohio State closed as the blue-chip prospect becomes the first linebacker in Ryan Day’s class.
Kentucky recorded a big win at linebacker by landing Grant Godfrey on Monday. The four-star prospect has multi-positional versatility. Arvell Reese also has that type of versatility as a potential inside linebacker that could be used on the edge in pass rush situations. Kentucky will now have to look elsewhere for help at the second-level.
Recruiting never stops.
