The undefeated Nyquist will not compete for a Triple Crown. After falling to Nyquist four times, Exaggerator finally beat his California rival.
Exaggerator had the mud in his favor, but that's not why Nyquist couldn't get the win. The early speed from Awesome Speed and Uncle Lino was too much for Nyquist, who simply ran out of gas down the stretch.
