Former Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt is teaching P.E. in Alabama
In today’s edition of Where Are They Now?, we check in on former Tennessee Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt.
The last time Pruitt was in the public eye, he was on the New York Giants coaching staff as a senior defensive assistant for the 2021 season, but the G-Men did not have him back for 2022. Pruitt’s brief NFL gig followed his firing at the University of Tennessee in January of 2021 when it was discovered he was a candidate for the cheatingest cheater to ever cheat in college football.
Earlier this month, Pruitt was hit with a six-year show cause order for his cheating at Tennessee, where the Vols program was found to have committed over 200 individual violations, including 18 Level I infractions. One example to the extent of Pruitt’s cheating, some players received payments directly from Pruitt or his wife.
So, where does a former major college football head coach find employment with a six-year show cause? In Pruitt’s case, he found work in high school athletics, teaching physical education at Plainview High School in Alabama, according to Paige Dauer at WVLT in Knoxville.

From McDonald’s bags to no McDonald’s
As a high school P.E. teacher, Pruitt will likely encourage his young students to stay clear of too much McDonald’s. Ironically, it was McDonald’s that Pruitt allegedly used to facilitate his Tennessee cheating with bags of cash.
However, the NCAA’s final report ruined a good rumor by revealing it was a Chick-fil-a bag, not a McDonald’s bag, that held pay-for-play.
Still, the irony in those fast-food conversations he will soon be having with the youth of Plainview.
Good luck to him.
