Julius Randle added to Team USA training camp roster

Former Kentucky forward Julius Randle will have the opportunity to represent the United States at the FIBA World Cup.

This morning, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the newest New York Knick has been added to the Team USA training camp roster, joining Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics as late additions.

The team will meet in Las Vegas from August 5-8 for training camp before participating in a nationally televised Blue-White game at T-Mobile Arena on August 9.

From there, Team USA’s roster will be cut down before heading to another training camp from August 13-15, including a scrimmage against Spain on August 16. From there, they will travel to Australia for camp from August 19-28 before officially heading to Shanghai, China for the World Cup from August 29 through September 15.

Last season in New Orleans, Randle averaged a career-high 21.4 points and 8.7 rebounds while shooting over 52 percent from the field. He signed a monster deal with the New York Knicks this summer worth $63 million over the next three seasons.

Former Kentucky star Anthony Davis was also on the initial Team USA roster, but opted to withdraw on July 15 so he could focus on the upcoming season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Davis was then joined by James Harden, Eric Gordon, Bradley Beal, Tobias Harris, CJ McCollum, Damian Lillard, DeMar DeRozan, and Zion Williamson as those pulling out from consideration.

Those joining Randle and Brown on the remaining list of participants? Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, Thaddeus Young, Kyle Lowry, Khris Middleton, Paul Millsap, Donovan Mitchell, Myles Turner, Andre Drummond, Harrison Barnes, Kyle Kuzma, Brook Lopez, Kevin Love, and PJ Tucker.
