WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

The Hurricanes will return to the practice field this morning for spring practice No. 4, and we will have you fully covered with video of the day’s work, news and notes including depth chart updates and post-practice interviews. So don’t miss all of that, including a preview of the day’s work.

We also had all your information coming out of Miami’s Pro Day, including performance numbers and post-workout interviews with the players. Be sure to check that out. And there’s our story looking at WR Xavier Restrepo, who is projected as one of the nation’s top WRs.

In basketball we had insight from coach Jim Larranaga as he looks to turn around the program moving forward. Find out his thoughts.

In recruiting?

Plenty more news.

A visitor this week will be Miami (Fla.) Central three-star 2025 defensive lineman Floyd Boucard. The Canes are making a big push after offering earlier this month so don’t miss where things stand there.

Another update: Over the last few months a handful of major programs have offered Enterprise (Ala.) cornerback Andrew Purcell, and the Miami Hurricanes became one of the latest programs to do so. He updates where things stand.

Plus we catch up with Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor four-star safety JaDon Blair. He is one of the most sought-after defensive backs in the country, and Miami is among his top programs thanks to Hurricanes linebackers coach Derek Nicholson.

Be sure to check out the Miami targets in the initial On3 top-300 ranking of the 2026 class, plus the take of On3 scouting and rankings staff. The list features dozens of prospects who have gained some level of interest from the Hurricanes — whether it’s an offer, a campus trip or an in-school visit from Miami’s staff — including a local quarterback poised to be South Florida’s most anticipated signal caller prospect in more than a decade.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

APD Spring 2024 – QB’s … Posted by phlipper5

Hope you will enjoy my look through the spring roster through the active, practice and development lens.
Leading off with the Quarterbacks.

Active
#1 Cam Ward – Elite level athletic Quarterback in prove it mode. Can’t ask for more than that!
#16 Reese Poffenbarger – Craves the chance to outplay the narrative that he can’t play at this level. Can’t ask for much more than that.
#17 Emory Williams – “Winner” mentality that may not posses enough other winning traits. That’s maybe too much to ask.

Practice
#18 Aristides Angelo Jr. – Now in a spot to mimic opposing QB’s without having to take any 4th team reps. All we can ask for!
#18 Joe Borchers, # 18 Riply Luna – When 2 players share the same number, not much left to say.

Development
#11 Jacurri Brown – So very toolsy, however mechanics are very poor. Watch the vids from this spring; throwing off the wrong foot, arm angles change without any rhyme or reason, seems only interested in showing off the big arm. We need to ask for so much more.
#15 Judd Anderson – The recruit OC Dawson will be judged by. Mario lauded his mentality.

This QB room certainly is deep. I don’t see it staying that way.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I lost a lot of weight. I feel fit, energized. … I wish (at Miami) I was playing at the weight I am now. I’m much faster, much leaner. I feel like this year if I was playing around this weight I would have disrupted the game a lot more than I did the previous year. But that’s in the past now.”
