WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

There was, of course, the baseball news off the weekend ACC tournament, with Miami reaching the title game before falling to Clemson. So you can read all about that. And stay tuned early this afternoon for the regional field announcement (Miami is hosting) with feedback from the team … plus a closer look at the Canes’ opponents.

There also was the big commitment news with Daylen Russell coming on board. We had that news and a closer look at what he brings to the table for Miami. OL Luis Cristobal, who is Mario’s nephew, has also transferred to Miami and we brought you that news.

Plus be sure to check out Gary Ferman’s take in the On3 Roundtable. He weighs in on freshmen impact players and talks some recruiting. So don’t miss that.

There also was plenty of recruiting news.

UM is looking at adding one more transfer to the CB ranks. San Leandro (Cali.) College of San Mateo cornerback Demetrius Freeney landed an offer from Jahmile Addae on Friday and is setting up a visit for the weekend of June 9. He plans to take that with a teammate who also has a Miami offer, CB Sione Laulea. Don’t miss that update.

CaneSport was at Chance Robinson’s spring game and updates the status of the Miami commit. He is still receiving serious recruiting efforts from several programs, although he remains locked in with the Hurricanes after scheduling an official visit to Coral Gables.

Another interesting story you don’t want to miss is on Salem (Va.) three-star linebacker Chris Cole. There’s a family connection here between Cole and Rohan Marley, the son of reggae superstar Bob Marley. Rohan was a fan favorite for the Miami Hurricanes in the early 1990s, racking up 193 tackles in 27 games for The U, including a team-high 95 tackles during the 1993 season. So don’t miss that.

Then there’s an update on New Haven (Ind.) 2024 five-star receiver Mylan Graham. He has been committed to Ohio State for over a month, but his relationship with Miami receivers coach Kevin Beard is keeping the Hurricanes in the running for the No. 13 overall prospect in the class.

Orem (Utah) four-star tight end Roger Saleapaga is continuing to emerge as one of Miami’s priority targets in the 2024 recruiting class after tight ends coach Cody Woodiel took an evaluation visit to Utah at the end of last week.

The Miami Hurricanes have also made the final cut for 2024 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas linebacker Nicholas Rodriguez, and he breaks things down.

There also was the news that Miami is in position to receive an official visit from Miami (Fla.) Central 2024 four-star defensive lineman T.A. Cunningham. Find out the situation there.

And Miami continues to build on its recruiting momentum by offering Westlake (Calif.) Westlake Village 2025 receiver Jaylen Moore, who adds the Hurricanes to his list of offers along with programs like Colorado and Michigan State. He shares his thoughts.

A prospect that may be flying under the radar for many is Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas defensive back Romanas Frederique. Despite being an unranked prospect in the 2024 class thus far, Frederique holds a handful of Power 5 offers, including one from the Miami Hurricanes, a program that has shown heavy interest in him early on.

Plus IMG Academy 2025 four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng has visited Miami twice already this spring, and the Hurricanes are aggressively trending up for the No. 38 prospect in next year’s recruiting class as a result. Find out what he’s talking about.

Miami has offered Lucedale (Miss.) George County 2025 four-star quarterback Deuce Knight, the On300’s No. 28 overall prospect and No. 6 quarterback in the class. He’s become one of the hottest underclassman targets and breaks down where UM fits in his picture.

And CaneSport continues to count down the top 50 post-spring players on the roster, a list that doesn’t include any post-spring roster additions. We break down No. 25 Isaiah Horton, No. 26 Zion Nelson and No. 27 Branson Deen.

As always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

TWEETS OF THE DAY

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

I would start Mark Fletcher and have Chris Johnson spell him … Posted by MIA6CANE

Just my opinion need to get these two running backs involved in the game plans early.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I was super excited about (getting an offer from Miami) since my uncle played there too. It’s super special because he played there and he did well there too. I would say he was one of the best linebackers to ever play there. It would be great to follow in his footsteps.”

Chris Cole, who is former Cane Rohan Marley’s nephew
