The Wolverine's Ej Holland Breaks Down 5 Recruits Visiting Ann Arbor In April I Michigan Football

Michigan’s spring visits are in full swing, and this weekend, a number of priority targets are on campus to watch camp practice.

The Wolverine examines where U-M stands with the visitors, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

Top 100 WR Quincy Porter, Oradell (N.Y.) Bergen Catholic, 2025

On3 Ranking: No. 38 Overall, No. 5 Wide Receiver, No. 1 in New Jersey
RPM: Michigan (25.5%), Rutgers (15.1%), Penn State (13.0%), Ohio State (5.7%)
Past U-M Visits: 7/30/23, 4/10/23

Quincy Porter fits the mold of the bigger-bodied outside threat playmaker that Michigan is targeting this cycle. Wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy has established a close relationship with the East Coast star and his family. Porter’s last tour of Ann Arbor occurred in late July for the BBQ at The Big House, but the tight bond with Bellamy has propelled U-M to top contender status. This offseason, Porter has also visited Ohio State, Penn State, Florida, FSU, and Rutgers, with an expected commitment before his senior season.

On300 RB Marquise Davis, Cleveland Heights (Ohio) High, 2025

On3 Ranking: No. 102 Overall, No. 7 Running Backs, No. 5 in Ohio
RPM: Ohio State (82.3%), Michigan (6.3%), Kentucky (3.6%), Penn State (2.3%)
Past U-M Visits: 3/26/24, 11/25/23

Marquise Davis returned to Michigan on Sunday after making his first spring visit in Ann Arbor less than two weeks ago. Davis had only been inside the facilities once with the old coaching regime at the helm, but his close relationship with running backs coach Tony Alford has helped propped up the Wolverines as a contender. Davis has talked about his interest in Michigan’s physical rushing attack and recently included the team in his Top 10 list earlier this month. He’s scheduled to take an official visit to campus on June 7.

Four-star OL Avery Gach, Birmingham (Mich.) Groves, 2025

Industry Ranking: No. 247 Overall, No. 17 Interior Offensive Lineman, No. 2 in Michigan
RPM: Michigan (80.3%), MSU (6.2%), Ohio State (3.6%)
Past U-M Visits: 3/22/24, 11/25/23, 11/4/23, 10/14/23, 7/30/23, 5/22/23, 3/19/23, 10/15/22

Avery Gach is among the priorities on the offensive line board this cycle, and Michigan is pulling out all the stops to ensure that the in-stater stays in the Metro Detroit area for college. Head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome are leading the way in Gach’s recruitment. Residing 45 minutes away from Ann Arbor has allowed the Wolverines to bring him in for two spring visits, with an official visit the next step before the summer dead period. Ohio State, Michigan State, Georgia, Wisconsin, Penn State, USC, and others are also heavily involved.

Four-star WR Taz Williams, Red Oak (Tex.) High, 2025

Industry Ranking: No. 284 Overall, No. 38 Wide Receiver, No. 47 in Texas
RPM: Michigan (66.3%), SMU (6.3%), Texas A&M (3.9%), Texas (3.2%)
Past U-M Visits: 4/24/23

Taz Williams is favorited to pledge Michigan, per the RPM, following an On3 Prediction published by Chad Simmons last week. Williams’s April return to Ann Arbor comes a little under a year after his first trip. He’s scheduled to officially visit U-M on June 21. Bellamy and Moore are keeping firm contact with the four-star, originally from Pittsburgh and formally associated with the same Western Pennsylvania training organization that early enrollee linebacker Cole Sullivan trained with. Later this spring, Williams will also officially visit USC, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Alabama.

Three-star TE Hayden Bradley, Buford (Ga.) High, 2025

Industry Ranking: No. 634 Overall, No. 35 Tight End, No. 65 in Georgia
RPM: Ole Miss (89.4%), Georgia Tech (2.7%), Costal Carolina (1.2%), Michigan (1.0%)
Past U-M Visits: N/A

Hayden Bradley arrived in Michigan on Friday and spent the entire weekend inside the facilities. The multi-day visit succeeded U-M entering the mix during the winter contact period. Newsome and Jay Harbaugh first reached out to Bradley, who’s now been in communication with recently hired tight ends coach Steve Casula, who connected with the junior immediately upon his addition to the staff. Ole Miss currently has a commanding lead for Bradley on the RPM, but to make an appearance up north so soon after receiving an offer indicates that U-M is in the mix as well.

Top 100 OL Tyler Merrill, Mechanicsburg (Pa.) Cumberland Valley, 2026

On3 Ranking: No. 50 Overall, No. 6 Interior Offensive Lineman, No. 3 in Pennsylvania
RPM: Penn State (40.4%), Notre Dame (15.4%), Syracuse (9.0%), Michigan (7.5%)
Past U-M Visits: 6/14/23

Tyler Merrill was formally offered by Moore while on his first-ever visit to Michigan in the late spring of last year when he competed in a team-hosted camp. Despite not returning to The Big House over the fall, Merrill has shown a deep interest in U-M’s development success of the offensive line position, and he’s an early focus for the Wolverines next cycle. Penn State has hosted Merrill on seven unofficials, and Notre Dame has welcomed him to South Bend three times.

Three-star WR Jaylen Pile, Dallas (Tex.) Parish Episcopal School, 2026

Industry Ranking: No. 324 Overall, No. 51 Wide Receiver, No. 43 In Texas
RPM: Arkansas (25.2%), Virginia Tech (22.1%), Penn State (18.9%), Michigan (8.3%)
Past U-M Visits: N/A

Jaylen Pile‘s trainer and mentor is Margin Hooks, who works closely with Williams, and is good friends with Bellamy from their time in the NFL and NFL Europe. Pile’s father was also drafted in the NFL the same year as Bellamy. The sophomore received an offer from Michigan earlier last winter, and this weekend was his first time in Ann Arbor. Since the beginning of his recruitment, Pile has visited 13 schools, with six, including Penn State, bringing him to their respective campuses twice.

Rising QB Daniel Mielke, Fontana (Calif.) Ontario Christian, 2027

On3 Ranking: N/A
RPM: Michigan (40.9%), Georgia (35.8%), Colorado State (10.9%), Charlotte (9.1%)
Past U-M Visits: 11/25/24, 6/18/23

Daniel Mielke is one of two quarterbacks in the 2027 recruiting class to possess a Michigan offer. Although traveling to Ann Arbor requires a cross-country flight for Mielke, he’s ventured to campus three times since June. In that period, he’s gotten familiar with quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell and offensive analyst Josh Sinagoga. It’s still very early in the process for Mielke, but he’s become comfortable around the reigning national champions. Georgia, who’s also offered, has had Mielke on its campus three times.
