The Wolverine's Ej Holland Breaks Down 5 Recruits Visiting Ann Arbor In April I Michigan Football

Spring camp is nearing its conclusion for Michigan in less than two weeks, with the evaluation period beginning on Monday and the annual intrasquad scrimmage taking place inside The Big House on April 20.

Several more marquee targets are expected to be in Ann Arbor the remainder of this month as The Wolverine examines the five highest-ranked U-M recruits on the visitors list and where things currently stand.

Top 100 RB Savion Hiter, Mineral (Va.) Woodberry Forest, 2026

Industry Ranking: No. 20 Overall, No. 1 Running Back, No. 1 in Virginia
RPM: Virginia (23.1%), Ohio State (20.2%), James Madison (9.1%), Michigan (7.6%)
Upcoming U-M Visit: 4/18/24

Savion Hiter was extended an offer from Michigan less than a month after running backs coach Tony Alford was added to the staff. The two have a preexisting relationship, as Alford offered the sophomore while at Ohio State, where Hiter has visited twice. His trip to Ann Arbor next Thursday will be the first time Hiter tours the area. The appeal of U-M’s commitment to running the ball is standing out, along with the resources provided on and off the field. Hiter is staying open with his process, with Georgia, Penn State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson, and others also welcoming him to their respective campuses.

Top 100 WR Derek Meadows, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, 2025

Industry Ranking: No. 38 Overall, No. 6 Wide Receiver, No. 1 in Nevada
RPM: Notre Dame (93.3%), South Carolina (3.8%), Michigan (1.2%)
Upcoming U-M Visit: 4/20/24

Derek Meadows is a heavy favorite to choose Notre Dame, according to the RPM, but he’ll get his experience of Michigan during the upcoming spring game. He’s kept in close contact with wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, who’ll look to bring the Wolverines a second Bishop Gorman star in back-to-back cycles following the signing of 2024 running back Micah Ka’apana. Meadows has three offensive linemen teammates who’ve all appeared on campus over the past five months. Having family living in Michigan, Meadows is familiar with the Metro Detroit area, and he has friends on next season’s roster in Tyler Morris and I’Marion Stewart.

Top 100 OL Darius Gray, Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher’s School

One Ranking: No. 42 Overall, No. 4 Interior Offensive Lineman, No. 2 in Virginia
RPM: South Carolina (27.2%), Penn State (18.0%), North Carolina (10.4%), Michigan (4.6%)
Upcoming U-M Visit: 4/18/24

Darius Gray picked up an offer from Michigan in March of last year. Although his visit next Thursday will be his first time inside Schembechler Hall, he’s extensively researched the program. He has been very impressed with the team’s success in developing offensive linemen. Aside from winning two Joe Moore Awards, given to the nation’s best offensive line unit, the Wolverines sent six maulers to the NFL Combine. His trip will provide one-on-one meetings with head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome.

Top 100 LB Nasir Wyatt, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, 2025

Industry Ranking: No. 75 Overall, No. 8 Linebacker, No. 4 in California
RPM: Oregon (96.4%), USC (1.9%), Michigan (<1%)
Upcoming U-M Visit: 4/11/24

Nasir Wyatt is scheduled to be at Michigan for a multi-day visit. He arrives on Thursday and will head back to California the following Sunday. The RPM indicates that Wyatt is eyeing an opportunity to stay close to home at the next level and attend Oregon, but his interest in U-M remains. His visit comes after U-M has finalized its staff, with defensive line coach Lou Esposito, linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, and defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale expected to be at the forefront of Wyatt’s recruitment moving forward. Wyatt’s teammate, Top 100 running back Jordon Davison, is fresh off a return visit to Ann Arbor two weeks ago. The former regime was eyeing Wyatt as an edge rusher.

Top 100 CB Mark Zackery, Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis, 2025

On3 Ranking: No. 76 Overall, No. 10 Cornerback, No. 2 in Indiana
RPM: Notre Dame (94.8%), Michigan (1.3%)
Upcoming U-M Visit: 4/20/24

Mark Zackery is another 2025 target for Michigan trending to Notre Dame on the RPM. However, recently hired defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan has been in contact with the Indianapolis secondary prospect and his family, and they’ve quickly formed a relationship. Along with his expected spring game appearance, Zackery has an official visit planned for June 14-16. The Fighting Irish, Cincinnati, and Florida are also slated to earn officials in two months. Zackery is the only target among the five listed in the article who’s previously visited Ann Arbor, as he took a weekday trip in mid-October to meet with the staff and tour the facilities.
