Michigan has picked up its fourth commitment from the 2024 class who’s native to the state of Ohio.

Following their major spring recruiting weekend, the Wolverines added Lakewood St. Edward offensive tackle Ben Roebuck to the nine-man class on Wednesday during his fourth visit back to Ann Arbor in a span of three months.

“Something that really stands out to me about Michigan is they have a rich history with winning,” Roebuck told The Wolverine. “They’re the winningest program in college football history. Winning is something that I really like. I hate losing more than I like winning so going to a school that wins a lot is something that sounds really good to me.”

Michigan out-recruited Roebuck against notable schools on the suburban Cleveland anchor’s offer sheet such as Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Pitt, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Iowa State and Illinois. The Wolverines entered the mix for Roebuck in the winter of last year.

The number of return visits going back to mid-December allowed Roebuck to grow a closer relationship with offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Sherrone Moore, area recruiter Steve Clinkscale and head coach Jim Harbaugh. Michigan’s priority for the top prospects in Ohio this cycle always included Roebuck, who now joins the two-time reigning Joe Moore Award winning unit.

“Something that Coach Moore has been talking to me about is that he trains all of his offensive lineman to play all five positions,” Roebuck said. “Really, that’s something – I think – not a lot of coaches do. But that’s for a reason. Like, if a guy goes down, they can move one of the starters to that spot and pull someone else up. The flexibility that Michigan has on their offensive line is something that really separates them.”

Roebuck’s high school is located less than 30 minutes away from Michigan interior offensive line commit Luke Hamilton, who along with defensive commit Ted Hammond, were instrumental in assisting the coaching staff with bringing Roebuck onboard.

“Originally, like at the beginning of our sophomore year, (Luke and I) started off as rivals with us being two of the bigger linemen in the state and being so close by,” Roebuck said. “But after we started talking, we became really good friends. We have the history of playing each other in eighth grade in football and basketball so it’s really cool to see our relationship get to where it’s at right now.”

At 6-foot-7 and 315 pounds, Roebuck is ranked as the No. 593 overall prospect in the country, No. 38 offensive tackle nationally, and No. 20 junior in the state of Ohio, according to the On3 Consensus.

Roebuck has an On3 NIL Valuation of $19.7K with 6,000 combined followers on Instagram, TikTok and Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Rounding out the nine-man class with Roebuck are Top 100 running back Jordan Marshall, three-star defensive lineman Ted Hammond, On300 tight end Hogan Hansen, three-star interior offensive lineman Luke Hamilton, On300 linebacker Mason Curtis, three-star defensive lineman Manuel Beigel and On300 defensive back Jacob Oden and three-star linebacker Zach Ludwig.
