Michigan picked up its third verbal commitment of the fall from 2023 Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton three-star linebacker Breeon Ishmail.

Ishamil, ranked in the top 45 among all senior Ohio native recruits, per the On3 Consensus, chose the Wolverines over notable offers from Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Cincinnati. The announcement on Friday came six days after Ishmail visited Michigan for a second game day experience last weekend during the final home contest of the season.

“The visit (to Michigan) was wonderful,” Ishmail told The Wolverine. “It was so great and there were so many great people up there who wanted me to be great. Meeting all of the coaches and players was great. But it was also the area around the college and the entire community. Michigan is the number one public university in the country. I love the academics there.”

Steve Clinkscale presided over the Ishmail recruitment as the primary point of contact. Ishmail received an offer from Michigan back in October right after his debut on campus for the Penn State game. The return trip was originally marked as an official but soon got changed to an unofficial in order for Ishmail to come back again in December for a full weekend.

”Me and coach Clink have a good relationship,” Ishmail said. ”He also has a good relationship with my mom. It’s been great for all of us to have that relationship . (The coaching staff) has said that they can see me fit on their defense at outside linebacker because of my skills, height, and athleticism.”

At 6-foot-4 and 216 pounds, Ishmail is the No. 82 overall ranked athlete in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus. Ishmail joins three-star athlete Kendrick Bell and On300 offensive lineman Nathan Efobi as the three who committed after the summer.

”(Michigan) showed me love on both visits that I took there,” Ishmail said. ”There was no difference on either visit. That was a really big deal for me.”

Ishmail has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.9K with 808 followers on Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Rounding out the 17-man 2023 recruiting class for Michigan are On300 offensive tackle Evan Link, On300 EDGE Enow Etta, On300 running back Cole Cabana, On300 EDGE Collins Acheampong, On300 linebacker Semaj Bridgeman, On300 offensive lineman Nathan Efobi, consensus four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring, four-star tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star wide receivers Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore, three-star defensive lineman Brooks Bahr, three-star running back Benjamin Hall, three-star EDGE Aymeric Koumba, three-star athlete Kendrick Bell, three-star tight end Zack Marshall and three-star kicker Adam Samaha.
