The Wolverine's Ej Holland Breaks Down 5 Key Recruits Who Have Visited Michigan So Far This Spring

Michigan is coming off a busy month of March in which dozens of targeted 2025 recruits stepped inside Schembechler Hall for spring camp practice. Some of whom the Wolverines are currently leading for, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

The Wolverine examines the five March visitors U-M has the best chance of landing, based on data from the RPM.

Top 100 OL Michael Carroll, Doylestown (Pa.) Bucks Central East

On3 Ranking: No. 69 Overall, No. 3 Interior Offensive Lineman, No. 3 in Pennsylvania
RPM: Michigan (30.1%), Penn State (22.6%), Rutgers (9.9%), South Carolina (5.6%)
March U-M Visit: 3/30/24

Michael Carroll was among the four marquee 2025 offensive linemen targets who met with head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome last weekend. The Wolverines were on Carroll’s travel docket, which included trips to Georgia, Alabama, and Clemson, with Ann Arbor being the final stop. Carroll and his family had a one-on-one meeting with Moore and were able to continue growing their close connection with Newsome. A native of Eastern Pennsylvania, Carroll has been to Michigan on four unofficial visits since this past July and is scheduled to take an official visit on June 21.

On300 OL Hardy Watts, West Roxbury (Mass.) Dexter School

On3 Ranking: No. 242 Overall, No. 16 Interior Offensive Lineman, No. 2 in Massachusetts
RPM: Penn State (26.6%), Michigan (23.3%), Clemson (19.9%), Boston College (1.5%)
March U-M Visit: 3/30/24

Hardy Watts was also among the junior offensive linemen touring the facilities over the weekend, which was also the New England mauler’s first time on campus. Michigan extended an offer to Watts in February, and he’s quickly risen up the board. The intensity of practice and how Newsome was leading the offensive line impressed Watts, whose interest in the reigning national champions was solidified because of the visit. A return trip is in the works.

On300 RB Marquise Davis, Cleveland Heights (Ohio) High

On3 Ranking: No. 102 Overall, No. 7 Running Back, No. 5 in Ohio
RPM: Ohio State (83.2%), Michigan (5.3%), Kentucky (3.6%), Penn State (2.3%)
March U-M Visit: 3/26/24

Marquise Davis had a very close relationship with Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford when the latter was at Ohio State. Their communication continued in a big way once the latter moved to Ann Arbor last month, as Davis returned to U-M for spring camp practice. He was last around the facilities in late November for U-M’s win over Ohio State. Davis called Alford joining Michigan’s staff a good switch and supported it. He’s scheduled to make an official visit to U-M on June 7. The violent nature of the Wolverines was what first piqued Davis’ interest, which continues to resonate this offseason.

Four-star OL Avery Gach, Birmingham (Mich.) Groves

Industry Ranking: No. 245 Overall, No. 17 Interior Offensive Lineman, No. 2 in Michigan
RPM: Michigan (80.3%), MSU (6.2%), Ohio State (3.6%), Notre Dame (1.5%)
March U-M Visit: 3/22/24

Avery Gach remains one of the top priorities on the offensive line this cycle. Residing less than 45 minutes away from Ann Arbor, Gach has visited Michigan eight times, dating back to the 2022 season. He’s expected to return with family on April 7, and an official visit this upcoming June is likely. Gach’s relationship with Moore has been well-documented for over a year, and he has gotten in tight with Newsome since his promotion earlier in the offseason. The Wolverines are showing plenty of intrigue in Gach’s versatility.

Three-star EDGE Willie Fletcher, Detroit (Mich.) King

Industry Ranking: No. 595 Overall, No. 49 EDGE, No. 11 in Michigan
RPM: Michigan (84.8%), EMU (1.5%), CMU (1.2%)
March U-M Visit: 3/26/24

Willie Fletcher attended Michigan’s spring camp practice last week alongside other members of Detroit-based SoundMind SoundBody. Fletcher was previously on campus for the late September win over Rutgers last season. He had rapport with Steve Clinkscale and Dylan Roney and is vying for a similar kinship with the team’s newest defensive line coach hire. The Wolverines recently added Lou Esposito to their staff. He’ll be tasked with resetting the board and building new relationships with targets who yield offers.
