Top 100 Wr Target Is A Monster!!!! Quincy Porter Michigan Football I Wolverines

Over 20 prospects ranked in the On300 have or are expected to visit Michigan this spring as the reigning national champions prepare for the April 20 intrasquad scrimmage with camp practice underway.

The Wolverine examines the 2025 targets who have scheduled trips to Ann Arbor and are trending towards U-M, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

Top 100 WR Quincy Porter, Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic

On3 Ranking: No. 38 Overall, No. 5 Wide Receiver, No. 1 in New Jersey
RPM: Michigan (27.4%), Rutgers (16.2%), Penn State (7.3%), Ohio State (6.1%)
U-M Visits: 7/30/23, 4/1/23
Upcoming Visits: April 4-6

Michigan is targeting a bigger-bodied outside wide receiver this cycle. Quincy Porter, who fits the bill, is one of the Top 100 playmakers who yields a close association with wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy. Offensive line coach Grant Newsome, the area recruiter for the state of New Jersey, offered Porter. His third-day return to Ann Arbor next month will give him first-hand observations on how the offense operates under head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell. Porter is pleased that U-M is sending two wide receivers from last season to the NFL Draft.

Top 100 OL Michael Carroll, Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks East

On3 Ranking: No. 69 Overall, No. 3 Interior Offensive Lineman, No. 3 in Pennsylvania
RPM: Michigan (32.8%), Penn State (24.7%), Rutgers (10.7%), South Carolina (6.1%)
U-M Visits: 11/25/23, 10/22/23, 7/30/23
Upcoming Visits: March 30, June 21-23

Michael Carroll‘s father played football at Penn State, and his mother played basketball at Michigan State, but the reigning national champions are very much in the mix. Newsome is also the area recruiter for Eastern Pennsylvania, so there was a preexisting relationship between the two before Newsome earned the staff promotion in January. Moore is also actively involved because of his time directly recruiting Carroll prior to taking over for Jim Harbaugh. Carroll appreciates Michigan’s investment in recruitment, as an official visit has also been scheduled to Rutgers. Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Penn State are being considered as well.

On300 RB Iverson Howard, Gaitherburg (Md.) Quince Orchard

On3 Ranking: No. 276 Overall, No. 24 Running Back, No. 7 in Maryland
RPM: Michigan (50.0%), Maryland (9.4%), Penn State (8.1%), West Virginia (6.7%)
U-M Visit: 5/11/23
Upcoming Visits: April 20, June 7

Michigan saw the departure of Mike Hart from the coaching staff earlier this month, but that didn’t affect how Iverson Howard views the program, so much so that he’s set two return visits to Ann Arbor after last being on campus this past spring. Overall development at the running back position and the central focal point the unit has had on the offense in recent history has impressed Howard, who looks forward to speaking in-depth with new running backs coach Tony Alford. Howard and Moore have been establishing a growing relationship this offseason.

Four-star OL Avery Gach, Birmingham (Mich.) Groves

Industry Ranking: No. 245 Overall, No. 17 Interior Offensive Lineman, No. 2 in Michigan
RPM: Michigan (80.3%)
U-M Visits: 3/22/23, 11/25/23, 11/4/23, 10/14/23, 7/30/23, 5/22/23, 3/19/23, 10/15/22
Upcoming Visit: April 7

Michigan became the leader in landing a commitment from Avery Gach following his third game-day visit at The Big House last season. That’s when the Wolverines vaulted into the top slot on the RPM following an On3 Prediction. Gach was just at the facilities on Friday to watch the pro day event and meet with Newsome and will return in two weeks. He’s not planning to commit somewhere until the end of June official visits. Gach is the top priority for U-M on the offensive line board this cycle, and he’s developed robust connections with both Moore and Newsome this offseason. Michigan State’s new coaching staff is pushing to land the legacy, with the Metro Detroit native also consistently hearing from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Georgia, USC, and others.

Three-star ATH Xavier Newsom, Detroit (Mich.) King

Industry Ranking: No. 415 Overall, No. 38 EDGE, No. 7 in Michigan
RPM: Michigan (87.8%)
U-M Visits: 11/25/23, 9/23/23, 6/21/23, 1/28/23, 3/13/22
Upcoming Visit: April 20

Residing less than an hour from Ann Arbor has provided Xavier Newsom ample opportunities to visit Michigan throughout his high school career. The prior staff, specifically Steve Clinkscale and Dylan Roney, were the closest to Newsom, who’s yearning to develop similar bonds with the new staff. Newsom could play tight ends or EDGE at the next level, but U-M is without a defensive line coach. However, the replacement for Greg Scruggs should be done swiftly, and that coach, along with tight ends coach Steve Casula, will get their first chance to meet Newsom in less than 30 days at the spring game.
