Michigan moves up in On3 Consensus national team recruiting rankings

Michigan has jumped to No. 18 overall in the 2023 On3 Consensus National Team Recruiting Rankings following the first day of the early signing period on Wednesday, picking up the newest commitments in Kankakee (Ill.) High On300 cornerback Jyaire Hill and Phenix City (Ala.) Central On300 wide receiver Karmello English.

The Wolverines entered Wednesday with 21 verbal pledges, who all signed, to their recruiting class but have beat out Illinois and a slew of other Power 5 programs for Hill and overcoming Kentucky for English.

Michigan 2023 Recruiting Class

Prior to Wednesday, the Wolverines were 20th overall in the country, but now enter the College Football Playoff Semifinals with eight four-star commits and 15 three-star commits. The additions of Hill and English brought Michigan to a total score of 89.474 and helped the Wolverines move past Florida State and TCU.

Rounding out the 23-man class alongside Hill and English are On300 EDGE Enow Etta, On300 offensive tackle Evan Link, On300 linebacker Semaj Bridgeman, On300 running back Cole Cabana, On300 offensive lineman Nathan Efobi, consensus four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring, four-star tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star wide receivers Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore, three-star defensive linemen Brooks Bahr and Roderick Pierce, three-star linebacker Hayden Moore, three-star running back Benjamin Hall, three-star cornerbacks D’Juan Waller Jr. and Cameron Calhoun, three-star linebacker Breeon Ishmail, three-star athlete Jason Hewlett Jr., three-star EDGE Aymeric Koumba, three-star athlete Kendrick Bell, three-star tight end Zack Marshall, and three-star kicker Adam Samaha.

A handful of 2023 targets remain on Michigan’s board, including five-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor and former Wisconsin defensive line commit Jamel Howard.

The Wolverines currently sit No. 3 in the Big Ten, trailing only Ohio State and Penn State.
