OU is about turning the page from the 73-0 victory against Arkansas State to now welcoming SMU to Norman.

The SoonerScoop crew was out in full force for post-practice interviews Monday evening. There were a lot of players made available.

Here is the best of the best as Brent Venables and crew get ready for the Mustangs at 5 p.m. Saturday.

QB Dillon Gabriel

Do you need a No. 1 guy at WR?

“It’s different year to year. Even game to game, things change. Like you see Jalil didn’t get as much but he blocked his butt off on the perimeter. You just never know who’s gonna get hot at what moment and I think that’s the beauty of what we do is just being able to plug and play with a bunch of different guys and produce. So that’ll be time to tell, for sure.”

OT Walter Rouse

Bill Bedenbaugh’s post-game critique?

“He demands the best, he demands perfection, and I think that’s one of the reasons why I came to OU (was) because of the type of coach that Bedenbaugh is. He doesn’t just want you to beat your man, he wants you to dominate him, with technique, consistently. And I just think that, you know, he said we did a great job but like I said before, we’ve got to step it up, we’ve got to keep going, we’ve got to be the O-line that he knows that we can be. And I believe that we can be the best O-line in the country if we keep doing it week-in and week-out.”

WR Andrel Anthony

Anything surprise you Saturday?

“I didn’t know we were gonna be that fast. Like a vibration. But I knew it was pretty fast. But it was like boom. Boom, boom. Boom, boom. Four plays. And I love that. We move down the field, marched down and scored and then turned around and did it again right after that. Just how fast we kind of operated and then just how efficient we did as well.”

WR Jaquaize Pettaway

First game?

“It felt pretty good. You know, went out there early, and my teammates helped me adjust to it quite easily. I’m really happy I got out there early and see my timing. Got the ball a couple times, and I feel like I adjusted really well. I’m really happy I got in.”

CB Woodi Washington

How are you helping the young pups?

“I mean just play violent and just play fast. Use your technique that coach is teaching us and if you just use the technique, everything will fall in place and you’ll make a lot of plays with it so just telling those guys that.”

S Reggie Pearson

Teammates reacting to the late hit?

“Oh, they was hype. They was hype. And that’s why I feel like I set the tone for our team. And came back the next play to let my team know that like, I got y’all. I know what I did, we lost a couple of yards. It’s whatever. I’m gonna get it back. So just kind of coming back that next few plays and going three and out was definitely the big thing to set a tone for my team.”
