Oregon is keeping the pedal to the metal on the recruiting trail. After hosting four 5-star prospects in Eugene last weekend, 2026 On3 Industry 5-Star Folsom (Calif.) quarterback Ryder Lyons will take his official visit with the Ducks this weekend, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Lyons is the top uncommitted quarterback in the country for 2026. He’s ranked the No. 17 prospect nationally, the No. 5 quarterback and the No. 3 prospect in California according to the On3 Industry.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound passer was scheduled to take an official visit to USC last weekend, but that trip ended up falling through. That makes his official visit with the Ducks his first OV of the summer.

Heading into this weekend’s official visit, Oregon and BYU have emerged as the two teams to watch for a possible commitment. Myself, Justin Hopkins, Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos have all placed predictions for Will Stein and the Ducks to land a commitment from Lyons.

The Oregon offensive coordinator and a few other assistant coaches went out to visit him in Northern California this spring, a trip that was well-received by the coveted quarterback.

“They were there for a while, almost three, four hours,” the 5-star recruit told ScoopDuck in a previous interview. “We watched a bunch of tape. We watched basically every single game I’ve played. Went through it all with the O-line coach (A’lique Terry), Coach Stein and Coach (Drew) Mehringer. It was great also. Just enjoy being around them.”

Oregon has yet to secure a verbal pledge from a quarterback in the 2026 cycle after Frankfort-Heights (IL) Lincoln-Way East 4-star quarterback Jonas Williams flipped his commitment to USC in February.

Following his official visit with the Ducks, Lyons plans to head to Provo for an official visit with Kalani Sitake and the Cougars.

A decision could come at any time, as Lyons stated in May that he’s looking to make his commitment “as soon as possible.”

BYU has become a more formidable opponent on the recruiting trail, and it’s looking more and more like a Ducks vs. Cougars battle for the top uncommitted quarterback in the nation.

Lyons plans to take a mission trip with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints upon graduating from high school, but he plans to join his school of choice in time for the 2027 college football season.
