Brady Sarkisian, son of Steve Sarkisian, commits to the Texas Longhorns as a preferred walk-on

Texas kept things in the family for the Longhorns’ latest preferred walk-on addition. 2023 Newport Beach (Calif.) Corona Del Mar linebacker Brady Sarkisian, son of Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian, committed to Texas as a walk-on on Thursday.

Sarkisian had scholarship offers from Arkansas State and Marshall. His On3 profile lists him at 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds. According to MaxPreps, Sarkisian played in 13 games this season for Corona Del Mar High School. He had 33 tackles with 11.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, and 2 blocked punts.

During the 2021 campaign, Sarkisian had 34 total tackles, including 7.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Brady is one of Steve Sarkisian’s three children. He is unranked in both the On3 Consensus and in On3’s own internal rankings. The only service that ranked Sarkisian is 247Sports, who listed him as the No. 204 linebacker in the state of California.

Texas also recently added a walk-on specialist in Dallas (Texas) Hillcrest kicker Reed Malphurs.

Sarkisian was part of a Corona Del Mar Sea Kings team that went 9-4 in 2022, including a 3-2 record in the CIF Southern Section’s Sunset League. He was 38th in tackles and eighth in sacks in the six-team conference that includes Los Alamitos, Edison, Newport Harbor, Huntington Beach, and Fountain Valley.

Sarkisian had a season-high six tackles versus Chaparral, including 2.0 tackles for loss. He recorded at least one tackles in all 13 games for the Sea Kings, and three or more tackles in contests versus Downey, Palos Verdes, Ayala, Chaparral, and Yorba Linda.

In addition to playing linebacker, Sarkisian also has film playing the left tackle position for Corona Del Mar.

The Longhorns currently have the No. 6 recruiting class in the country according to the On3 Consensus Team Rankings.
