The Denton (Texas) Ryan linebacker and On3 Consensus five-star committed to Texas today over Texas A&M. The 6-foot-2, 228-pounder chose the Longhorns after a three-year recruitment.

Hill Jr. joins former Ryan teammates Ja’Tavion Sanders and Austin Jordan on the Forty Acres. He’s also close friends with Longhorns’ Ryan Watts, Savion Red, and X’Avion Brice.

Hill Jr. will be in Austin this weekend for a visit with other Texas commits and targets.

Anthony Hill Jr. Scouting Summary

“Anthony Hill Jr. is a downhill linebacker with good size and straight-line speed. Hill Jr. has starred for one of the top defenses in Texas high school football since his sophomore season. Combines his speed with a high effort level, resulting in a highly productive player at the high school level. At his best when he can use his closing speed as a blitzer or in pursuit sideline-to-sideline.

“Additionally, Anthony Hill Jr. shows some physicality as a striker. Has one of the longer wingspans of top linebackers in the 2023 cycle. Furthermore, he provides added value as a pass rusher and may eventually grow into an EDGE prospect down the line. Has a penchant for forcing turnovers and looks to strip the football often. Will need to continue improving his skills playing in space and in coverage.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings

Hill Jr. is the 22nd member of Texas’ 2023 class, which now ranks No. 3 in the On3 Consensus Team Rankings. Hill Jr. is also the third On3 Consensus five-star in the class joining Arch Manning and Cedric Baxter.

Hill Jr. ranks as the No. 15-rated prospect and No. 1-rated linebacker in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The five-star has an NIL Valuation of $243K. The NIL Valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
