LUBBOCK, Texas — The No. 22 Texas Longhorns are in Lubbock for a 2:30 p.m. contest versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Both teams enter 2-1 and look to start conference play 1-0.

The Longhorns have won six-straight contests in Lubbock and look to make it seven at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Overtime

Texas will start on offense on the 25. Bijan Robinson fumbles. Texas Tech recovers.

Thompson rushes and reaches goal to go. On third and goal, Thompson is stopped short. Wolff’s 20 yard attempt to win is good.

Fourth quarter

Facing a third and one, Texas Tech runs the ball and moves the chains. They get into third and long, and Smith finds Price for a first down.

Massive third down here for Texas Tech, third and long, and Smith finds Trey Cleveland for first and goal. On third and goal from the five, Smith is stuffed. On fourth and goal, Smith is stuffed and Texas takes over.

The Longhorn drive starts on the two. Facing third and long after a deep shot fell incomplete, another shot falls incomplete and Texas has to punt out of its own end zone.

Daniel Trejo punts and Price returns it to the Texas 35. On third and 10 from the 30 for the Red Raiders, and pressure limits Smith to a gain of five. On fourth down, Smith converts with a scramble.

Smith finds Cupp for a touchdown from 19 yards out. 31-31 7:54

Texas’ drive starts on the 25 with a Robinson run. It gets to third and four, and Tech commits pass interference. Texas gets into another third down, but has to call a timeout.

Card rolls out and his pass to Whittington is incomplete.

Texas Tech takes over on the 17 yard line. A second down pass to Price gets the Red Raiders to the 43. On third and four from the TTU 49, Smith fumbles but Tech recovers. It’s fourth down, and Tech’s offense stays on the field. On fourth and three, Smith finds Price for a first down.

Texas commits a holding penalty, and the Red Raiders are in field goal range.

A middle screen to Price puts Texas Tech on the 27. The Longhorns call timeout.

Smith centers the ball. Texas Tech will attempt a field goal with 0:25 left.

Wolff’s kick is… good. 34-31 TTU 0:21

Texas starts on the 25 with 0:21 left. A pass gets it to the 35. Another pass gets Texas to the Tech 37.

Another pass gets Texas to the 30.

Third quarter

Will Stone’s opening kickoff goes out of bounds, so the Red Raiders start on the 35. A deep pass downfield is broken up by Anthony Cook, and a third down pass falls incomplete. A fourth down play doesn’t reach the line to gain, and Texas takes over on the Red Raider 40.

A pass to Gunnar Helm creates a third and manageable, and a rush makes it fourth and short. But Texas can’t convert and Tech takes over.

Texas Tech takes over and converts a third and short with Smith’s legs. Another third down is not converted by Texas Tech, but 4th down is on a pass over the middle to Boyd. Tech makes it goal to go, but can’t get into the end zone. Trey Wolff hits a 27-yarder. 24-17 Texas 8:16

Facing third down, Card finds Cain for a quick pass while under pressure and picks up a first down. A holding penalty sets the Longhorns back but they pick it back up to make it third and long. Card scrambles to pick up the 10 yards and much more to move into Tech territory.

Then from 40-yards out, Robinson scores on a rush to the right side. 31-17 Texas 4:27

Texas Tech’s drive starts at the 25. A pass from Smith to Baylor Cupp that saw two Texas defenders bump into each other results in a Tech pickup. Smith then finds Bradley, and Tech is moving the ball with speed. The Red Raiders get into a fourth and short, and Smith picks it up with barely any room to spare.

First and goal for Texas Tech, and Thompson gets into the end zone. 31-24 Texas 1:55

Texas quickly faces a third and long after taking over possession, and a dumpoff pass to Johnson nets little.

Halftime

Second quarter

SaRodorick Thompson moves into Texas territory with a deep run. A short loss and a holding penalty puts the Red Raiders way behind the chains. The second down play-call is another loss, but a pass interference penalty downfield undoes the progress made by the Longhorn defense and gives Tech a first down on the Texas 41.

The Red Raiders move into the red zone on a pass to Brady Boyd. A pass from Smith to Brooks puts Tech in the end zone. 14-10 TTU 12:06

Texas starts on the 25, and a quick pass to Worthy nets several yards. Hudson Card is intercepted. Reggie Pearson returns it to the TTU 45.

On the first play, Thompson rushes for a handful of yards. Tech gets to third down but they only go backwards and are forced to punt.

Texas starts on the 30. Roschon Johnson picks upn a first down on the ground. Texas gets to third and medium, and Card find Whittington for a first in Red Raider territory.

From 39-yards out, Card eludes pressure and finds a wide open Worthy downfield for a score. 17-14 Texas 6:07

Tech’s drive starts on the 25, but it ends very, very quickly. Texas forces the punt.

Longhorns start on the 18 with 4:35 left in the half. A pass to Agiye Hall and a rush from Keilan Robinson gets a quick first. Johnson rushes on third down but is called short. He gets it on fourth down.

A pass interference on TTU moves the Longhorns close to midfield. A pass to Ja’Tavion Sanders moves the Longhorns past midfield, and Texas Tech uses their second timeout with 57 seconds left.

Card finds Whittington for a first down inside the Red Raider 35. Card dumps down to Johnson and Texas has first and goal. Bijan Robinson runs it in from seven yards out. 24-14 Texas 0:24

First quarter

Texas Tech wins the toss and defers. The Longhorns will get the ball first.

Keilan Robinson returns it to the 38-yard line. Card finds Bijan Robinson for a first down in Tech territory. Card then finds Keilan Robinson on a 35-yard touchdown. 7-0 Texas 13:36

TTU starts on the 25, and picks up a first down with his legs on third down. They reach Texas territory and are presented with a fourth and medium, and a completion nets the first down.

Another completion gives the Red Raiders first and goal from the nine. The Longhorns make it third and goal, and Jerrin Thompson makes the stuff at the line of scrimmage. On fourth and goal, Donovan Smith runs it in for the score. 7-7 5:41

The kickoff goes out of bounds and Texas starts on the 35. Bijan Robinson moves the Horns into Texas Tech territory again with a long run. A few passes to Jordan Whittington and Xavier Worthy put the Longhorns in the red zone with a first down. It gets to third and long, and Card is sacked. He hobbles off the field.

Bert Auburn attempts a 40-yard field goal and it’s good. 10-7 Texas 1:52

TTU starts on the 17, gets one first down via a Myles Price catch, then another to Nehemiah Martinez, and a run ends the first quarter.

Pregame

Hudson Card will start at quarterback for the Longhorns, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian told Longhorn Network.

Though Card will start, Quinn Ewers is on the field during pre game warmups and throwing to receivers. He did this last week.

Ewers is warming up as the fourth quarterback. Hudson Card, Charles Wright, Maalik Murphy is pecking order ahead of him.
