PFF Grades: Texas-West Virginia

After the Texas Longhorns’ 38-20 win over West Virginia on Saturday night from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, we take a look at the Pro Football Focus grades on offense and defense after the Horns move to 3-2 on the season.

OFFENSE

QB – Hudson Card, 70.1

Card had his best game as a Longhorn on Saturday. He was 21-of-27, 303 yards passing, and three touchdowns, and that’s winning football.

RB – Bijan Robinson, 75.9; Keilan Robinson, 80.0

Bijan was Bijan in Saturday’s win. He tallied 101 yards rushing and two scores on 54 snaps. Roschon Johnson led the backfield with a 74.2% on pass-blocking.

WR – Xavier Worthy, 81.0

Worthy might’ve been the player of the game. The sophomore from California had 152 total yards, three touchdowns, including a 33-yard passing strike to Ja’Tavion Sanders. Casey Cain had a team-high 77.8 run-blocking grade.

TE – Ja’Tavion Sanders, 84.7

The sophomore tight end had his best game in Austin after his five-catch, 78 yards, and two-touchdown performance on 59 snaps.

OL – Cole Huston, 68.6; Kelvin Banks, 68.0; Andrej Karic; 68.8

The two freshmen starting offensive linemen – Hutson and Banks – set the pace during UT’s win over the Mountaineers, both on 64 snaps. Hutson added a team-high 74.4 pass-blocking.

DEFENSE

DL/EDGE – Byron Murphy, 77.4; Moro Ojomo, 68.4

The big man in the middle held it down on Saturday against WVU’s rushing attack on 35 snaps. Ojomo added a team-high 74.5% interior pass-rush on 21 snaps.

LB – Jaylan Ford, 78.4; Demarvion Overshown, 69.5

In the last four games, Ford has collected 51 tackles and second on the team in defensive grade with 78.4% on Saturday. Overshown’s 70.3 coverage grade was highest among the front seven.

CB – Jamier Johnson, 66.1; D’Shawn Jamison, 65.6

Jamison was fantastic versus West Virginia leading the corners with 71.5% coverage grade. Ryan Watts and Johnson were also solid in the secondary.

S/N – Jerrin Thompson, 79.6

The Lufkin (Texas) native continues to quarterback the defensive secondary. He notched a team-high 79.6 grade, led with an 87.1% tackling on 74 snaps. Anthony Cook graded 64.5 overall on 56 snaps.
