Texas commits Malik Muhammad and Billy Walton both put points on the scoreboard for the South Oak Cliff Golden Bears in their 34-24 victory over Port Neches-Groves. Even more impressive, each plays defense. They’re also cousins who are set to sign with Texas on Wednesday. Finally, both were integral players as SOC pulled off the repeat in 5A Division II.

Muhammad, one of the top corner prospects in the country, returned an interception 40 yards to help put the Golden Bears up 31-17.

Earlier in the game, Walton, a three-star Edge, assisted on a safety.

Not a bad way for the cousins to cap their fine careers. Next, they’ll take their winning ways to a Texas program clawing its way back to national prominence.

Muhammad is an early enrollee and will compete for playing time next season. He’ll have the best pure cover corner traits in the program the day he arrives. He also has the drive and mindset of a future pro. He committed to Texas on July 20th over heavy pursuit from Alabama and Texas A&M.

Walton is on a little longer developmental timeline, but he projects quite well to the “Buck” outside linebacker position in Pete Kwiatkowski’s scheme. Walton originally committed to Oklahoma State but changed his mind and selected Texas on June 28th.

Malik Muhammad On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Malik Muhammad:

“Long-armed corner who excels in press-man coverage with the ball skills to create turnovers. Shows off his ball skills with the ability to high point the football while playing receiver. Has a 6’3”+ wingspan despite being around 6-feet in height. Ran an electronically-timed 4.61 40-yard dash in 2021, showing good speed relative to other corner prospects.

“This speed and burst translates to the track as well as he participates in the 400m/800m/1600m relays as well as the high jump, long jump and triple jump. One of the most natural corners in the country that will need to add more mass to his frame in order to hold up with the physicality of the game at the next level.
