Following the loss of Spring (Texas) Dekaney wide receiver Jonah Wilson‘s pledge in October, Texas held commitments from two wide receivers in its 2023 class. And in recent days, there was a risk Texas would be left only with DeSoto (Texas) four-star Johntay Cook. Fellow Texas pledge and Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower four-star Ryan Niblett took a visit to the hometown Houston Cougars over the weekend that surprised the Longhorn coaching staff and put whether he would sign with UT in question.

Despite the late drama, Niblett reaffirmed his commitment to Texas on Wednesday via an Instagram post.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life💯‼️ #stayingput,” Niblett said.

Niblett originally joined Texas’ class of 2023 on April 23, 2022. He committed on a visit to Austin on the same day as running back Tre Wisner.

Niblett is ranked as the No. 73 overall prospect, the No. 12 wide receiver, and the No. 14 player in the state of Texas according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 ranks Niblett as the No. 95 overall prospect, the No. 16 wide receiver, and the No. 20 player from Texas.

Prior to his commitment, Niblett claimed offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Michigan State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC, and Vanderbilt.

Niblett currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $162k. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athlete’s projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
