Texas defensive back Ishmael Ibraheem was suspended indefinitely by Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian, a school spokesperson told Inside Texas on Tuesday afternoon.

“We’re aware of the situation with Ishmael Ibraheem,” Sarkisian said in a statement. “We have talked to his family, and he has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities at this time as we continue to monitor the legal and University processes.”

KXAN, the local NBC affiliate in Austin, Texas, reported Tuesday that Ibraheem was arrested on Monday by University of Texas police.

This is Ibraheem’s second suspension while a part of the Longhorn football program.

Ibraheem, a redshirt freshman from Dallas (Texas) Kimball, has played in two games in his Longhorn career. He played in one game in 2021, and saw action in 2022’s season opener versus the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. He was credited with one pass defended against ULM.

A member of Texas’ class of 2021, Ibraheem was ranked as the No. 258 overall prospect, the No. 22 corner, and the No. 38 overall prospect in the state of Texas according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 rated Ibraheem as a four-star prospect.
