Local CB Jayden Crowder Commits to USC

Three-star 2026 Santa Margarita Catholic cornerback Jayden Crowder committed to Cal last November, but he showed up on a recruiting visit to USC over the weekend when the Trojans defeated Michigan 31-13 at the Coliseum.
The Trojans also offered Crowder a scholarship after a long talk with position coach Trovon Reed and general manager Chad Bowden.
On Thursday, Crowder flipped his commitment to USC, surprising some because of the commitment from big-time JuCo cornerback Jakwon Morris from Mississippi. This commitment clearly shows USC understands how vital it is to stock up on defensive backs.
“It was good,” Crowder said of the visit. “I had a conversation with Chad and Coach Reed when we all got there. We ate the dinner they provided, and I had a conversation with them, and they ended up offering me. It was all good, and then I got to stay and watch the game.
“The atmosphere was great. It was a packed-out stadium. Everybody was really nice. They’re doing what they’re supposed to do with the fans. Them rolling over Michigan, that was a big win because they showed out, the offense showed out and the defense showed out.”

The Trojans may not be done adding defensive backs, either. It’s not a given, but USC is looking at Washington cornerback commit CJ Lavender from Mater Dei.
USC may also be looking for another tight end and edge rusher. Junior College tight end and Utah commit Josiah Jefferson took an official visit to USC last weekend and is a strong option, if he can get past USC adding Mark Bowman to that room.
