The regular season comes to a close Saturday evening as the No. 5 USC Trojans host the No. 13 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Coliseum for a 4:30 pm kickoff. The Huddle provides the news, notes, names and numbers you need to watch your Trojans take on the Irish.

College Football Playoff Berth at Stake

USC is the highest-ranked Pac-12 team in the College Football Playoff ranking this week. But the Trojans are still at No. 6, one spot behind two-loss LSU, which is No. 5.

Playoff committee chair Boo Corrigan said the committee wanted to see a little bit more from the USC defense following the Trojans’ 48-45 win against UCLA. This game against Notre Dame will serve as a good test for the Trojans on that side of the ball. The Irish are tough and will throw multiple tight ends and big backs on the field. If USC’s defense can hold up, the offense should be able to put on another show.
