Bucky McMillan snubbed for COTY-SEC

couldn’t even give him Co-Coach of the year? I find it hard to believe. I love what Golden has done there but being picked bottom 5 and being that high at end of season is amazing

That’s absolute horseshit. The coach of the year just happens to be the coach of the defending national champs? Do voters not understand how to recognize good coaching jobs?

Florida was picked to win the SEC and they did. Golden is a great coach but what Bucky did was incredible.

Good. More fuel for Bucky. Can't wait for the dance. Don't even care if we win or lose. Then I'm sure the NIL wallets will open and Bucky gonna put together some good talent.

Hey look the guy with three all Americans won the conference. Give him the trophy for not underachieving

I love what Bucky did this year but it’s not outrageous that he didn’t get coach of the year.

It’s not outrageous by any means but the context of each of the SEC programs preseason picked and then now post regular season does have to be taken into account

Isn’t this the dude that was rumored to be harassing and stalking some of the coeds on their campus?

If A&M would have 2 more wins, Bucky wins. Getting beat at home by Texas and Mizzou cost him.

I can’t imagine a more stress free situation going into the tournament than A&M is in. Our coach pulled off a flippin miracle. This season has been wildly successful and we have an absolute dude as a head coach.

I'd disagree. If you really look at what he did its a no-brainer. Picked 14th, 1st year, last hired, had 1 walk on player on the roster when he came on board. spent several weeks on top of the SEC and ended up 6th and will make the dance in year one. Go ahead and list every other coaches resume for this year and see if they stack up, or even come close.

Bucky should have been COTY undoubtedly. Golden did not do a better job coaching this year than Bucky. His team has a better record and more talent. He did not coach better than Bucky.

Very much agree, but some dumb dumb on here will complain about him as soon as we lose in the tournament.

Oh that will absolutely happen. I am trying to love that person despite his inevitable sin, but it is difficult.

The award was for an SEC coach, not all of college basketball. It has not even been a year since Bucky was hired (April 5, 2025). The success of the Florida team is not up for debate, but building that team and their success is not something that has happened in just the last year. No other SEC coach has done more for their team and been more successful in the current college athletic environment over the last 11 months than Bucky M. At minimum, a CO-COY was deserved.

If Bucky was the coach in Austin, he would have won the COY.

I'm not going disparage what Golden did, because, after their start, it was some really goood coaching but with elite talent. I don't know if what Bucky did, with what he was dealt, was precedential but it was pretty fkn close. Can't say that it was because I don't know the history of every team in the country. But here's the takeaway. What Bucky did, putting a team together with all the remaining puzzle pieces left on the board, that really didn't fit together until he made them fit together, to accomplish this...regardless of award, that was pretty fkn epic and worthy to be romanticized. We got a Dude.
