The worst part of his performance is recruiting so he definitely doesn't need to be GM. At best he could be our game prep assistant.

He was able to have a top 10 offense in ken pom year one so he's capable of coaching the offense. He's never had a top 20 defense before and that's where he needs help. Outsource the defense to a new qualified assistant and find a way to not be down early and often in most games.

Having an awful recruiter take the role of a GM job would be a terrible outcome

Mark Pope as a GM at Kentucky makes less sense than him being the head basketball coach

Me thinks he should be a mid-major level program, not at UK, in any fashion.

Billy has told us no 3 times now. I view this the same as when i see people still tooting the "we fired cal" horn, when HE LEFT ON HIS OWN. I think, overall, the blueblood title doesnt pull the same weight as it once did. Any team will be good any year when the boosters and admin decide to "pony up" that year. Examples: Louisville and Tennessee THIS year. Unfortunately this year basketball didnt get the "pony up" money because of a renewed emphasis on football with a new coach. Lets be honest, we all know UK athletics is literally a business now, and football brings in 50-70% of revenue, so the money kind of "needs" to go to football this year. Also i want to see the new AD, who's going to replace Pope, if and/or when, that is deemed necessary. (Which I dont think he needs to be)

That is ridiculous. I still think Pope is a pretty good in game coach, but he may possibly be the worst D1 head coach at relationships and negotiating with agents. Which literally means he would be the worst GM in D1 because that is what a GM does. He could easily get a head coaching job at a school like Wake Forest or Cincinnati if he left UK, but I doubt Presbyterian College would offer him their GM position.

Idt the roster is that bad so my thoughts are he needs to find an insane person who can transfer energy to the players before the game and also specializes in defense to give that assistant position to.
