We need him to get players. And Ross should be first up by next season. He is more talented and is a playmaker.

Only issue I had with the edge this year was setting an edge. The safeties were worse. Was it a banks issue or a chop issue? That is the question.

Chop should be better year 2. Similar to the TE Coach…that TE room was much better in year 2 than year 1. Hope Leo’s have a similar upgrade in performance.

Chop would be hired by one of our competitors in a matter of minutes. He has turned down inquiries from other schools and CJH knows who they were and how much they offered. If we “upgrade” from Coach Chop I feel sorry for the Vols and not Chop. He will be fine, probably make more money and we will lose one of the best recruiters in America. BTW we had RG MH and several consultants working with DTs and DEs and in every scheme there were shifting responsibilities for setting the edge among LBs DEs and others. But go ahead and bitch about the “upgrade”

The defense as a whole wasn't very good, so they all share some blame on the matter. Knowles will evaluate everyone on that side of the ball and make changes he feels is necessary.

Ekeler recruited Linstrom and Chadavian Bradley; Chop delivered us Pierce, Ross, Dye, Campbell and H. Harris.

When Rodney Garner was first hired by UT back in the 90’s David Cutcliff said he was a great recruiter but the staff would have to help him become a better coach. I think that worked out real good. Plenty of time to bring coach Chop along.

Joseph’s moving from strong side to edge this year really hurt the d line overall. He played great last year opposite Pearce. He was good this year but he’s better against the run than he is against the pass. West and Bailey got caught falling in love with the pass rush and really got exposed in the run
